  5. The Tigers are always the underdogs and have never come on here talking a bunch of mess. Why would they start now? The Tigers will do what they do every week. They will prepare each day for the team they face on Friday. They will bring the most loyal group of fans you could ask for. They will leave it all on the field. These boys have faced challenges a whole lot harder than a championship game so don't expect them to be intimidated. They will walk in that stadium with no fear and do their job. They see and hear what people say but they don't need others to build them up. They are brothers and they build each other up everyday. They may not have a Mr Football on the team but we've had one before and that doesn't win State Championships. We are excited to come to Cookville and support our Tigers!! See you all Friday!

  6. Let me say this the 2 best teams in 2A football in TN. will play Saturday at 3:00pm. Both Teams have a lot on the line in this game for each of their respected schools and communities . If Meigs wins it will be their 1st gold ball and if Peabody wins it will be a three peat and their 4th gold ball so all of the banter is fun until fans bring kids by name and number into your conversations. This is for football talk and a place to talk your team up not a pen!! comparison site. These kids deserve all the respect in the world!!!! I expect a very hard fought game from both teams. We all ought to be thankful that they are able to play considering what the world is going through at this time! May the best Team Win!! ROLL TIDE!!!!!

  8. We watched the same game and I saw the play that you are referring to. 64 was unsportsmanlike on several occasions that didn't get called. he did block his guy and block him well. He tried to put an exclamation point after the play. Milan retaliated they both deserved the penalty. The call on the time out was terrible coaching and not doing what they were told to do, No wonder the players couldn't be told what to do on the field. Their coaches were poor examples. All they had to do was follow directions. There were times that the refs told PC players you are lining up off sides, and they would not move so they got flagged. They go in motion and then run at the line of scrimmage. This was High school football. Not arena league. those officials could care less about either team.... i am tired of all the people on here sounding like trump supporters and and trying to blame somebody else for getting beat. (I am a conservative by the way)

  12. I agree there is a problem but it isn’t going anywhere for a few more years. The board there keeps extending the contract. Thing is SC is almost a laughing stock in other counties when it comes to administration at or towards the top. That issue obviously isn’t going anywhere soon so might as well take it for what it is and try to make the best of it. A new coach can succeed there if they have the right mindset and can connect with the kids. I’d life to see Carthage he succeed and get back to what they used to be. I’d love it for the fact that hopefully they would schedule local teams, H20 in particular, and create local rivalries and good games every year that people and fans could be excited about. There’s nothing better than a Friday night with 2 small towns that despise each other for about 3 hours then can come together after and support the other. The more local teams that play each other the more that can happen and the better it is for the this whole area.

  13. Peabody better come out strong. Peabody and SP are almost equal this season in my mind. The SP Meigs could have any either way. The players and coaches from Peabody can’t slack up. I’m going with Peabody in this one but it’s going to be a battle. A battle that I think Peabody wins in the 4th qt. 34-23 Peabody

  14. Well, as bad as it hurt me and hate to admit, you do know a little about football and about SC.. Now , anything else you might THINK you know, it would be in everybody's best interest to question you,

  15. Won't be much scoring in this game. Alcoa is great on defense.

  16. I've seen several videos of both teams this year and I'm not seeing this enormous talent gap so many are speaking of. The Fayetteville team playing this week in Cookeville is not the same team that played Gordonsville a few weeks ago. The return of the suspended players and the playoff eligible transfers give them a huge talent boost. Their sophomore QB has made huge improvements since midseason as well.

  17. You are right. As a matter of fact I heard the same thing, when he was hired. I defended his stints at those schools as being difficult schools to coach. I was willing to see what he could do here. Yelp, he's gone regardless of why. Time to hire a football coach....

  20. Just a thought from someone across the river... The program is in shambles compared to what it was under Maynard. It's not a dumpster fire, but it's not anywhere near what it was. I've heard a lot of things that has happened that shortened the leash on Murray, however, I don't think one can question the work he put in, at least from what I've seen. One thing that puzzles me is that you really can't ask for a better region record, and 2 years is an awful short time-leash.

  21. Agree. In the 2 appearances I made at state, we were confident and definitely not afraid. In both instances, we were blew out both games. There was just a talent gap. I believe it is the same this time. Fayetteville I'm sure will be confident coming into the game but there's still a talent gap between these two teams. Also, Grider has been in this position before which will help SP prepare for everything they're going to face leading up to the game and keeping the players ready and focused. There's a big difference in being there the first time and knowing what to expect the next time you are there.

  22. The team with the lowest score is going home with a Silver Ball. There are 42 other teams that would like to be in their place Friday.

  23. 2011 Greeneville had 2 Mr Football finalist with Rollins and Hall. Rollins won it (Was Knoxville's Defensive player of the year too for all classifications) and is now coaching at Knox Central under former Greene Devil Nick Craney. Great breakdown though and definitely pulling for the Cyclones to bring another one back to NE TN.

  24. Milan made a major change to their offense after the Covington game by moving Anthony Brown from qb full time and going with Hayden Sullivan. Offense is much more dynamic now. Those two games you watched are not a good indicator of what will be run Friday.

  25. Great observation on my Hawks! Dyersburg will be a problem for a lot of people. They will not lose many games. We lost 1 to ACL injury(football), one 7 footer chasing a dream(went to East in Memphis to get no playing time) and then we lost a 6’7 guy smh. So yea we are not 11-13 deep as we were but deep enough to win it all! Gotta come through Tha South

  26. There a link to it? I’d like to hear his outlooks on the game

  27. SP fell short against teams not nearly as talented in 2009 & 2011. I think most know what can happen on Friday but they also know what has happened in the past so they bite their tongue.

  30. Who did Peabody have to replace from what the Meigs coach said was the best line play he had seen ? Who did Meigs add to improve good line play from last year to make it great ? I think this game as always comes down to "Trench Warfare" as P Pride says !

  34. The Elizabethton Kids have been playing with loud music since the 6th grade.. heck the coach gets text from people in Lynn Valley telling us to turn it down...

  35. He has no clue who your team is Kevin. He assumes since you posted here you must be a Milan supporter. And I guess he thinks we don’t know who Alcoa is. He’s just a troll trying to stir the pot bro.

  36. I’ve made no excuses since that game. I’ve said over and over Peabody was the better team. And I’ll say what I want when I want got it? If you don’t like it you can take your little three posts and go for a long walk off a short bridge. Your a newbie. If you want to be cool that’s fine but don’t come in here starting a bunch of non sense. You won’t be around long.

  37. Look who is talking. I think if you look at the win/loss record of teams played Meigs opponents 71 wins 56 losses Peabody. 47 wins 67 losses Meigs did have 2 covid wins. Milan and Mckenzie. I will give you that. Meigs played some pretty good ball teams. South Pitt. Hampton, Oneida, Rockwood, South Greene. We didn't play a lot of those west TN cupcakes like you guys (Halls,Liberty,Obion,Gibson,Jackson SS, UC twice) Your delusional Ganaway is well deserving of Mr. Football just as our guy. We will not downgrade him or say he can't get 30 yards on a good D or is going to have his lowest rushing yards next week. Our guys will do their best to make him earn every yard he gets. They know it just takes one missed tackle and he can take it to the house. We respect Peabody and what they have accomplished

  38. I can't speak about Betsy because I know nothing about them.... They obviously have a great team or they would not be playing in Cookeville. I can speak to Haywood. They have a great coach, with some real athletes. From what I am reading they are big underdogs in this game. I would not count them out.... Haywood CAN win this game. I do not have much more than that.... but, Haywood can win this game.

  39. Doesn’t matter who was the RB. Peabody blasted Milan in the trenches. Get over it already. You’ve made 21 excuses since that game. Peabody lost how many playmakers last year? A sophomore qb diced u up. A jr rb and a jr wr and a nice OL. None have offers. The kid from liberty has an Alabama offer. Can we stop this now lol

  40. I have not, it depends a lot on if Friendship, Gville, Macon, and White House chooses to continue to play, I would assume Portland is done playing us, I do know next year Trousdale vs Watertown will be week 11

  44. Because unlike you I have people I am close with outside of my little ole team and I also like keeping up with teams close to us. Once again people talk and I have been inside that stadium and at other games that Carthage has played in and stood and listened to the idiots I mean bleacher coaches. What's really bad is that Gordonsville is the premier job in that county. Carthage fans are alot like UT fans they think think this job is actually a better job than it truly is.

  45. Wait a second! They went to Knoxville to play a team they beat 81-18. Could have saved alot of money and time if they scrimmaged the Pickett Middle School team across the road for a better game.

  46. Excellent points! I moved back to Tennessee from Texas. What kwc describes is exactly what the expectation is of the HC in most schools in Tx. I like to follow HS sports and have seen the posts from Whitehaven with the guys at camps out of state and dominating. People always look up to California, Florida, and Texas....what they don't realize is that those coaches grind all year. Now I will say that the compensation structure for coaches is different in those states..... Cheers KWC!

  47. This is something that has bothered me for a few years now concerning College Recruitment as I watch families struggle with understanding the recruiting process , how to get involved with the process, what are realistic schools, and what offers are real (committable) and which ones are just chumming the waters. Recruiting has changed a lot over the years and it’s no longer if your kid is good enough they will find him. In reality, if your kid actually plays on Friday nights and wants to play football at the next level there is a good possibility that there is a school out there for them, but how do these families find the right match? Granted, it probably isn’t the coveted D-1 FBS school, but there are a lot of smaller colleges that still support a team. So why don’t the coaches help their kids play at the next level instead of bashing the people (recruiting services) who have made it a business to help kids get to play at the next level. If you don’t like what they do then offer an alternative to the services that charge money. If you don’t help them it would be like a school teacher saying it’s not their job to help your kid be academically prepared for college. These coaches and schools need these players if they want a competitive team and these kids are willing to put their very lives and bodies on the line to play their chosen sport, so why wouldn’t you want to help them move on. Most parents don’t understand the process so they have to turn to someone to learn and get help, why wouldn’t the coaching staff and the school want to promote and help these families? Is it because they are too busy? Maybe it’s because they they don’t understand it theirselves? Maybe they think it’s a distraction? I don’t know the answer, but I know there are a lot a very good, hardworking, dedicated HS football players who don’t even get to talk to a college recruiter or have their coach take the time to help promote the kids that look up to them? Yes, the kids that fit the desired measurables (ht, wt, spd) will be found, I’m not talking about those kids - I’m talking about the kids who need a little help with the marketing side of recruitment and HS coaches saying, look - he may not be 6’4” DE, but he plays bigger than he looks. Why not find a coach that is passionate about helping these kids (not just the superstars) maneuver through the waters, goes out of their way to make contacts at the next level and call them College Liaison coaches???? We have too much unnoticed talent that could play at the next level if they had someone help them get there. Thoughts?
