Congrats to Hampton! Those kids should be loving the idea of facing a possible future Bama QB. Not to mention a Mr Football I’m sure. That community deserves a taste of the big dance. I have loved the mutual respect from both sides this week. I would have never expected this TC team to make it to the semifinals and loose by 2. Can’t be up 20-8 in the 4th and loose. But all in all….great season by TC. The team that blocks and tackles the best will always win. Play calling matters, but not as much as blocking and tackling. Hampton was the better blocking team tonight. And that’s what mattered.

WHAT … A …. GAME!!! Wow.. just wow! This one proves why you play the game on the field, and assumptions & presumptions are often wrong, and offense wins games but defense wins CHAMPIONSHIPS. A game for the ages! Congratulations to them Johnny Rebs in this back & forth slugfest between two titans. The defense stepped up and did what it had to do to end Peabody’s amazing reign of consecutive gold balls. Good luck Rebels next week. Bring that Gold back to W. TN. .. And just think, these two teams, plus several others out west, will be reloading next year and the level of competition will be even better. Talk about something to look forward too! Again.. wow! This game’s another proof of why you gotta love football!

Good Luck to the Tullahoma Wildcats tonight. Coach John Olive's quest for a State Championship could be one of the more "heart tugging" storylines in Chattanooga next week if the Wildcats are able to reach that point. Coach Olive is now 201-126 in 29 Years at THS. He has reached the TSSAA State Playoffs 23 out of 29 years as the leader of the Wildcats football program. This is the kind of story that you root for as a football fan. You wonder if he will call it a career at the end of this magical season (especially if his team reaches the Blue Cross Bowl in the same year that he reached the 200 win plateau at THS). Tullahoma is a very senior heavy football team. If so I'd love to see Coach Olive ride out with a State Championship.

Oakland has played one of the most competitive schedules in TSSAA History. I know they are great and have D-I talent but they've taken on all comers this year. 8 opponents who've won 10+ games this year and it would end up being 9 if they were to reach the Blue Cross Bowl. You all have to remember that these are 15, 16, 17, 18 year old kids. Getting them to gear it back up mentally and come to work week in and week out against this competition when they are favored by such astronomical margins every single week has to have been such a roller-coaster for the Patriots coaching staff. If they win handily it's expected. If they win barely it was a tainted win. If they lose the world is unraveling. Going to be interesting to see who is on the field at 7 PM tonight. Word is that both teams have had some injury issues to deal with this week, and at least one of the teams has had some flu like issues to deal with during the week as well. And a note: It was ten years ago (actually last night, November 25) that Powell beat West 29-6 in the semis at Powell to get to the Blue Cross Bowl.
