  4. How is he beating his chest? I believe he is one of the most unbiased posters on this board, unlike many. Sure he is all wave, but post significant post not just post seen through green wave glasses. Keep posting all you Wave fans on this site. A change at the top of the program has brought a lot of tradition and pride back to life in Gallatin and I for one am completely on board and bought in. GREEN WAVE PRIDE FOREVER

  5. I can definitely relate to this post vandy. I am more positive about our team right now than I've been since Stroup left, but that doesn't change the fact that we're not ready to compete with good teams yet. I think that our timeline is two years out before we can challenge anybody relevant, but in my estimation y'all are closer than that. Between where we were and where we are now, we threw two years in the trash, and a lot of kids aren't playing now for that reason... I think that Waverly went straight from "the man" to the "next man". The Tigers graduated a great class, and was going to have to re engineer their team even if McConnell had stayed. Changing coaches also has that effect on a team regardless of talent returning, and you had both things happen at once. Now for the good... Talent level and depth are still there, and though it's different, you know the coaching is there as well. All the Tigers need is time to gel from good players with a good coach into a team that believes in themselves and their coaching... won't be two years.

  6. Yep! Just what the defense has give up Dyer had 7 against our starters, Beech had 17, Haywood had 24

  7. I think Barney is right on this one. Our county commission has been taken over by a several individuals that live and breathe to beat up and chastise our county school system. I feel for each of these departments every time they must face the commission. The CCs use inflammatory terms and always imply good ole boy deals. A couple can get away with this as their district consists of mostly City residents and they enjoy no accountability for what they challenge and or deny to county students. These are 40-year old facilities that have been neglected over time, not by school maintenance, but ostrich headed county taxpayers and previous commissioners that kicked the proverbial can down the road or did not properly fund and forced selection of band-aid fixes. Future elections must be used to vote these guys out and replace them with candidates that understand education.

  8. I can agree with that. I stay on coach T and I just don’t want to rev us up to be something we are not at this point. I think I’m coming off the wrong way to some people. I travel all over the state to watch high school football. I have seen what we would be up against and we are nowhere near ready for some of the teams out there. I’m just trying to state the facts not sugar coating anything. I have backed this team since I been on here. I think I was the only one posting for Waverly in 2015. Regardless how the season ends I will be proud of my team.

  13. Funny, no dog in this hunt, just enjoy the game. However, agree w you on this point. Almost saw a TC fight unfold on here I think earlier. TC has nothing to be down about, second game for them. Everybody knows they will compete.

  18. I understand your homeresque spin here, but this game was NEVER close. Maybe early when DC scored to tie it up at 7, but outside of that HC dominated this game from start to finish. Our swarming defense and efficiency on offense were too overwhelming for the Choctaws. This is what kills me about some of you, just come back and admit it was a homer pick and go on. Don’t try to make it worse with a made up narrative to make yourself feel or look better.

  20. I absolutely love the coaches in the stands that have only coached Jr pro. The coaches coach and the fans coach hahaha. That's why I don't sit in the stands to many idiots that don't really know jack squat about the game hahaha.

  23. Looks like you should have taken the Jackets last night! It was a closer game than I expected but the scoreboard says the Jackets stung the Patriots on the hind end and sent em back down 76 with their first L of the season.

  26. Shout out this morning to the Purple Tigers of Watertown, who found a way to win a ballgame that nobody truly thought they would. ( including myself ) Special shout out to the offensive line who has been ridiculed by everyone including myself, but found their groove in the second half and helped secure an H2 O victory. Great job big fella’s!!

  28. Well I'll throw my two cents into it even though I never played that position or coached it.I was a LB and some things I think were a little bit the same when it came to taking the right angles and so on..When you have speed like a couple of the coaches had in their playing days, you can take chances.I remember not that long ago at UT when one of DB's coaches went from goat to hero because of his great speed. When you don't have that superman speed and have Batman speed instead.I call it { oh shet speed }.You have to play smart, real smart when it comes to breaking on a ball or making one miss step.If a guy gets behind you and you have let's say 4.6 to 4.8 speed and he has the same speed and a couple of steps on you.Well you are beat. Now if the guy beats you and he has sub 4.6 speed ,then you are not only beat but he has time to get into the End zone and show his azz for a few seconds while your getting there. To me,it just seems like the better thing to do is to play smart and not let him behind you, even if you have to catch a bus before he gets there.

  29. It's hard to "see" whats going on when your eyes are a couple of blabber mouth sports monsters but if the secondary and penalties were fixed, this could be a 9-1 DB team. Could be anyway with the shape the other conference teams seem to be in. But they're dead by playoff game 2 if they don't fix those problems and game 3 is the end regardless. I do really like the fact that these new coaches believe in playing 4 qtrs.

  34. Maybe it's just because they are the boys I know the best, but I was impressed with the play of the sophomore contingency for TCA tonight. Goodwin to Graves on that critical 4th down was a well designed play, but fell just short at the 1 yard line (for the record, watching the momentum of the game, I think going for the score is a very defensible choice). Graves was a ballhawk in the secondary. Robertson was in the backfield all night causing trouble. I think that core of athletes has potential, they just need some beef up front. USJ dominated the trenches and that ultimately that allowed them to pull out a win despite the -4 (or -5) turnover margin. That being said, had the Bruins pounded the rock all night, I believe the outcome would have been the same but the scoreboard much different.

  37. Will be a long night for BA next week I am afraid. I’m not sure WH will keep BA off the board but if they play like they did the first half tonight it’s a real possibility. My feeling is unless BA plays it’s best 4 quarters WH will roll out of Nashville with a W. Congrats - huge win for WH and dominating win for TN football

  38. The SD and West games should be great. Looks like OR woke up too, so I expect that one to be tough, especially in October.

  40. You need to rethink your post Willie. You're a great guy but everyone isn't like you, not by a long shot. The so called "wildcatrealist" doesn't support the players or any part of the OR football program. He supports his own agenda which is to be as negative as he can possibly be. Unfortunately for him, that's the only thing that he's good at.

  41. I would agree in part however, the transfer nonsense has gotten mold and mildew on it. Why would you stop a thread that got out of hand when the subject itself has gone on for months? I mean it's obviously ok to talk nonsense for months and act idiotic about transfers that no one cares about except the team that "might" have to play them. Let me put it another way. So far Loudon, and Meigs didnt moan about them getting transfers. They seemingly buckled up, lined up, and played this wonderful game of football and overcome whatever diversity fell their way when it came to Greenback. Why cant South Pitt do the same or are we to promote ignorance on these boards and then shut someone down as soon as they reply? RoyPirBassador. It's obvious someone has been at the reservoir and spiked your cities water with Either Estrogen or Testerone blocker. If you want to fix what's wrong with that goat of yours start buying water from another city. The poor thing may even act that way because of its surroundings. I mean if men and women both are sitting to pee it may not know better. Sometime you got to put a goat with a real goat so it might know how to act. Maybe the men of your community have the same problem. Been around dainty other men so long it's the normal.

  43. The girls basketball team was close to winning a state championship last year, boys basketball has been to the state tournament many times in the past 7-8 years. The football team went to the 3rd round of the play6and played the only private school team playing in public school playoffs. The private school team had 10 d1 players to oak ridges 2 and they lost in the 4th quarter. 1 year is an anomaly, not status quo

  44. That's a very real problem that the city of Oak Ridge and the chamber of commerce are actively trying to address, but it isn't as simple as slapping a coat of paint on the side of a building and calling it a day. The CoC has been asking young working professionals in Oak Ridge what it would take for us to raise our families in OR rather than Farragut/Hardin Valley/West Knox. I've seen the results of those surveys, and while most recognize the tremendous reputation of the schools, infrastructure issues and real estate availability are glaring problems which aren't easy to fix. IMO, if the city was committed to new residential real estate development, the city could get younger in a hurry, especially in this economic climate. But until then, many people like me will continue to live on the other side of the Solway bridge.
