  6. Exactly, a lifetime of dedication should be worth something, the ability to walk away on your own terms is the least you would expect. If it was time then so be it, do the discussions in private and let a man with a lifetime of work and commitment to the community walk out with his head held high. Maybe someday that administrator will know how the coach feels.

  9. I didn't have the privilege of playing for Coach T - so old that when I played he was at Kirkman as an assistant. Tyner is very different than when I played there but I love my school and I love those kids, Coach T, and his coaching staff. This was a very tough deal - obviously not handled well. I hope football at Tyner can eventually recover from this and I wish Coach T the best with the rest of his career and life. I hope that despite this sour ending he will cherish the legacy of impacting hundreds of young men with a truly unique and special kind of love. Man do the guys who played for him love this man - it is a real thing. Blessings to you Coach T!!!

  10. When you played Tyner, you knew you were in for a hard hitting game for 4 quarters. Wayne also had his kids play clean football. Huge amount of respect for him and his staff. I assure you they will regret this action because it wasn’t just about the wins to Wayne, he was invested in those kids in making them young men that had a positive impact on society after they left school.

  12. I support all of Tennessee wrestling, but I pull the hardest for the East TN kids. Having lived in the Mid State, Knoxville area (Maryville) and Chattanooga I've been lucky to see how the best in each area got to where they're at. All of the relationships I formed at UTC have helped me stay involved with the sport over the years, but Tennessee will always be near and dear to me.

  13. IMO somewhere in these playoffs and it may be this weekend that we’re going to have one of those kids I mentioned step up like y’all had against us in the playoffs that no one was expecting. We shut down you all’s key players, but I believe it was number 11 that beat us with big plays. We have the kind of talent now that one of the kids that you wouldn’t expect to beat you ends up beating you and somewhere down the line we’ll have to have them show up and do just that!

  15. Stewart is a big kid that rarely gets knocked back. He can pound 5-6 yards easily each time he has the ball. Fay City will have to cut down on the nonsense penalties. They need to play with urgency.

  16. Thanks Vandy. We’ve been shut out though for 10 years from the gold. We have 2 silvers in 2011 and 2013, but that’s still a loss.

  18. Man you are right, at least we are still playing to take the beating, but hey, yall are used to being out in the first round. I didn't think you wanted to flap them gums on our side. Till we hammer yall next year then......

  24. Quarterfinal matchups: W4 JPII at E1 BAW3 MUS at E2 Father RyanE3 McCallie at W2 CBHSE4 Baylor at W1 MBA Seems like D2AAA is wide open this year, and anyone can win it. Let's hope COVID isn't a factor. All 4 of these games should be very interesting, and I think every one will be tight. Crazy that both Chatt teams are on the road, but I wouldn't be too surprised if they both win. My guess - and it is a complete guess - is that the semis will be BA hosting McCallie and MBA hosting Father Ryan.

  26. I can see a case for both teams being capable of pulling out the W.. You are right about the Dbacks though.. I have seen more plays of Dbacks running blindly down the field and the ball hitting them in the back.. not picking on Waverly with that comment, I'm talking across the state..

  28. Webster is a fine coach and though sometimes I disagree with his play calling / time management it still doesn’t take away from his offensive record. The man has and is successful! H2O has been scoring a lot of points for several years. Our biggest Achilles heel has been playing physical defense! Hackett changed that for sure! PS: Webster was smart enough to hire Hackett!

  29. Smith County has nowhere near the athletes it used to have. Just not a good job. He was 4-1 in the region and that is what matters so what teams are you referring too? Upperman has better players.

  30. Fortunately for the Hampton coaches and players, they don't agree with you. I'm sure they're pumped and ready to come down and beat Meigs - just because they've been told they can't. That's plenty of motivation!

  31. No I think we are better on some aspects and not as good in others. I also don’t think meigs is better than last year either. They are definitely good but not better than last year

  32. I've heard it every year on this site. Man, I need to find out where you do your banking @CovidQB. If they are giving out loans for the Mustangs to win pressured-playoff games in November then they must have a lot of money on standby.

  35. This game is interesting...does Haywood have any rust from the time off? Can they stop Dyersburg's O? Can Dyersburg stop Haywood's O? Haywood is the more experienced and more athletic team. I think they still have a lot to prove with the short amount of games they've played this year, but I think Dyersburg could win this game. Taking Haywood by 2 scores in a good game!

  36. Hated the kid lost the ball trying to a couple extra yards. Farragut has a great passing game and came an inch of getting it back. These are the type games I enjoy that come right down to the very end. Really no winners or losers in a game like this. Congrats to both teams on a great game.

  38. Actually Stars you have to be twice as good at spelling to write in old fashioned Tennessee English the way you do.I can only speak that way. We were on the Big Island one year ( not duck island in Kingsport ) and a kid was with his grandparents outside a grocery store raising money for his scout troop.I gave them a few dollars and as I walked off,I heard the old man say, ( Now,that's Southern ).

  39. Coach Turner had a great run at Tyner. Politics in schools nowadays are just ridiculous.

  40. They will most likely regret this. Coaching at Tyner requires alot more than just football knowledge.

  41. I'm not going to quote what any one has said, but reading through this makes me sick. First of all, to the Huntingdon fan base. We have had our bickering back and forth over the last 4 years and it has flared some tempers for sure. To have faced such a tradition rich program the last four years and be 2-2 shows something and to have had the honor and privilege to help call on the radio two of the greatest football games of any level I have ever seen, well it was amazing. Best of luck as you move back into 2A! Next, I personally know most of the coaching staff and you will not find a more dedicated and humble group of men. I have known Coach Randolph since my son played in youth football when he was the head referee. One of the most humble human beings you will EVER meet. When the bulldogs win, he brings players to the radio station because THEY won and wants them to be praised. When we lose, he comes alone because in HIS words, that is on him. You can coach all you want, but it is up to the ones on the field to execute the play. Sometimes you are overmatched, sometimes you make mistakes, but that is football, or any sport for that matter. What these men have done for Cornersville football and for the community is beyond belief. I believe the record over the last six years is 50-18 with back to back silver balls in the case. Amazing! As a fan base, we have forgotten what it feels like to lose. Too much success makes us forgetful. It wasn't too long ago that Cornersville was everyone's homecoming game because it was a sure win. Now, you have teams like Huntingdon when they ask players which team they want to face most, they say Cornersville. At least that is what I read on here not too long ago. God bless!

  42. No disrespect Blazer but I’ve seen both RBs play this year, Kollie is better. Question in this game is can SD’s defense stop him. Crockett is much different than they were last year, more of a running team. Also a factor, that’s a long bus ride to Jonesborough. Most people don’t think of that as a factor but I do.

  43. I believe It was 750 to live video. But 2 schools got it 1 didn’t from the same network. And sales did not even approach booster club to see if they would pay. All for one and one for all. Yeah right.!!!

  44. The split happened here initially (and then definitively) when publics didn’t like losing to privates because the “recruiting” makes it an non-level playing field. This in spite of multipliers and numerous other rules attempting to make it so. Of course the perennial powerhouse public programs are all above board and would never use shady tactics to gain an advantage on their competitors.
