And I haven't been to a game at Powell since 2016, so to call Powell "my" team is misguided. It's not the same Powell High my kids attended nor the one I was once involved with. And I promise you that your coaches would agree with me that you need to stop thinking about Powell and get ready to play a very athletically talented Science Hill team tonight. Too many mistakes by Westview: bad snap that Peabody recovers on 1, 2 picks in red zone, fumbled kick…Thought Westview’s number 17 is a man and a great receiver and back. He needs more touches. Yeah, and from listening to Cummings Rodgers may be out a good while too, with a shoulder injury. Hopefully it’s not as bad it sounds. We are really banged up, and it’s only the 2nd game of the year. Geez. 7 starters down now, I think. With that said, I was impressed with Bearden’s D, and the physicality of the team as a whole. I remember looking at their score with West last week and it was 17-7 late in the game. I couldn’t believe they were playing West so close, but now I know why, that’s a strong defense that’s gonna give a lot of teams issues this season. Credit to them. I’m super proud of our fight, especially with all the injuries we have right now. Close games like this against stiff competition always pays off in the long run.

The Mavs will head to Johnson City tonight and come away with a hard fought 6A vs 4A win. Unlike most teams the Anderson County Mavs will play all challengers and bigger schools. This is a tough task but these kids have been prepared for these situations since their days at Norris middle. My prediction Mavs 42 Science Hill 28

lf OR wants to practice keeping their composure and playing with out talking, playing BHS is a good game to start. ln BHS game vs West last Friday BHS had multiple penalties for personal fouls. There was a fight on the West sideline after a turnover. There was plenty of talking after plays that also seemed unnecessary. Bearden has plenty of talent, but the seem to be very undisciplined. Or maybe it was just first game mistakes. l guess we will see as the season plays out.

Prayers going out to the family of Richard Adams. He lost his fight against cancer yesterday. Richard was a great person and very instrumental in many of Dresden's football players lives. He ran the pee wee program for several years. Stayed involved with his players through high school and beyond. RIP Richard.

Unbelievable, my book is late my book is late call the FBI. I'm going to die, it's the second week of the season and my book isn't here to save me. We second mortgaged the house for this book. The way I see it since Murphy Fair isn't going to do anymore books and Donovan Stewart is willing to jump in the ring and help fill the void I wouldn't want the guy not to do it again because there were just to many unforeseen issues and people that can't understand that. Things will be learned and I'm sure next year will be better thought out. Take my word since Covid this countries workforce and supply chain is a total mess.
