  1. CONGRATULATIONS BreadTruck (and all CPA players and faithful followers!) Nobody can say you didn't earn this championship. You beat the two best teams with no doubt as to who the better team was this year. I hope you got that big hug every dad should experience at least once! BT......it was good to "meet" a new friend on here. I don't know if your son plays b-ball, but it sounded like he plays baseball. Maybe we'll get to shake hands and share stories down the road somewhere. I hope all turns out just as The Lord has planned for your son. As for mine.....I'm pretty much done Raise'n him.....but, I'll never stop Prayin' for him! Its time for me to go take care of the true ROCK of our family for a bit.....his momma. Before I go....MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!! I wish all of God's blessings on each and every one of you during my favorite time of the year.

  4. What can I say? I said Whitwell would win this game and I said Cornersville would take home the Silver again. I don't care about stat's except for the final stat and that was Whitwell 2018 Class 1A Champions. I know alot of Cornersville people ate crow this weekend. Serioulsy, some of them acted like they were the only one's that could challenge Bama this year. I still say Whitwell's win's over Trousdale, SP twice and the defending state champions Greenback had them ready for this game and if those games had not been that hard I believe Cornersville would have won. Both teams had a good run and congrats to both, but especially to our Neighbors.

  5. If thats the case ,put um all back together and have at it, life is not fair,so we've got 2000 and you have 150. Take you're beating and like it. As far as this politic junk, they are all on the same side, reminds me of pro wrestling. Cuss each other and then party together. Just rich wigs doing whatever it takes to benefit the rich wigs.As for my part ,I don't like politics, don't like cheating , don't like unfairness and despise wickedness, Reckon that puts me and the big man on the same mission. This never stops until we have a leader who loves us ALL.

  6. Wilson Central does not dodge competition. They took a loss on Thursday at Father Ryan, then came to pat Walsh and wrestled the best teams available. Taking losses to Cleveland, Baylor and McCallie. No one can say that Wilson Central dodges competition! I'm sure it's not the start to the season that they want, but they are making the team better by wrestling the best competition available.

  16. Agree. This is high school you are always building and not just as a player but a young man. The faster these First year players learn they can compete the slower this game will get for them and I believe they will learn all of life faster

  18. Thanks! The CoachT football community is a fun place to hangout online for sure. Lots of great conversations over the last four years or so. A lot of good and knowledgeable guys, gals and Booger... Friday was fun for sure. Even back in middle school I thought this year’s team would be special. I watched Kane receive his All-American bowl jersey today and was so happy for him after the way his season ended last year. I feel blessed that my son was a member of such a great senior class on and off the field. No on the basketball playing. Hope to see you guys in baseball. My son’s second ACL surgery attempt is the 26th, so he won’t be an active player, but still a part of the team. Any prayers you want to offer up on that day for it to go smoothly would be welcomed. Take care all and have a great holiday season!

  19. Let me nip all this in the bud once and for all. I probably shouldnt have made the "life lesson" remark in my original post so, to that I appologize to coach Hookfin, should he stumble across this stuff. Secondly, sure, kids say stuff they shouldnt and i was no different. Heck Im half a century old and still say stupid things ( see life lessons remark). I guess i have just been conditioned to think everyone should say "thank you" when a compliment or well wishes are handed out.As far as the F U M F'ers comment, as i stated before, I'm standing my gound on that one. In my opinion it was wrong, but that's it....no harm no foul, i was just pointing out an observation of mine during the day. Maybe I should have just kept my opinion to myself, but as most people know, I have no filter and Im usually going to say what's on my mind, right wrong or indifferent. My "life lessons'' comment was made at the moment i was was typing my original post and at the time, it was what came to mind, based on the experience i was referencing. I certainly dont think those kids are "Taught" to ignore people or to ignore people who are wishing them luck, it just took me by surprise and stuck with me for a while so i said what was on my mind at that moment. Much like many issues and many incidents in life, ive had several days to think about it and to redirect my thoughts on it. That's why I'm making this final post on the matter. AGAIN, best of luck to the Tcat players, coaches, parents, staff and everyone involved with that program moving forward. Please accept my humble appology for making a false assumption about what is being taught by the Haywood coaches. Merry Christmas, Happy new year and hope to see you all in Cookeville again next year.

  21. Ok guys im starting to get a little ugly,my apologies! We are doing it right no doubt about it.I could set here and say Maryville does it Alcoa does it but we will never be close to any of those two.Heck SP has done it and is doing it why dont you guys go after them.LOL.Great programs and great communties are huge draws. Our kids out work most kids in our division also that is why we have won over 70% of our games for 30+ years.Transfers or not we will win regardless!I am proud of my Greenback Cherokees enough and im glad its a place where outstanding athletes want to come and be a part.

  25. Congratulations to the Central Bobcats. Huge amount of work put in by the players and coaching staff led by Coach Rosser. Huge shoutout to Coach Craney and that Central Defense. Played outstanding all year and showed up huge yesterday when it really mattered. Held opponents to 10 pts per game, which is top 12 in the state all classifications. Outstanding job. Team fought hard all year and truly deserved the state championship. Coach Rosser did what noone else did in the previous 112 years of Central Football. Amazing what he's done in his 5 years there. Expect Central to be around for awhile!

  26. AAP he isnt biased against Oakland... Only teams who don't run 5 wide.. Running bubble to the trips with a jet/slant tag and a slant /wheel combo on the twins side, making his checks pre snap. He can RPO to the jet or run a QB draw option because there are only 5 in the box.... And snapping the ball every 12 seconds... Because that is the end all be all offense now that wins and should be the only thing that works now... Other than that he's good! MOJO

  28. Hey now.. I never asked to see it. I actually told you to let us know when you do it that way we don’t have to see that mess. I’m just telling you the inevitable. Roy is heck bent on making you walk the plank in it. He’s said it on here numerous times.

  29. To me that has been a problem with McConnell he has had a lot more skilled kid not developed or for that part used. 2016 Carson short, 2017 Brier Johnson probably why he didn't play this year 2018 #8-#10-#32. I promise there's more waverly has alot more athletes than are being shown we had several more linemen that should have been used more in blowout game. First two years he was here starters played the whole time no matter score. Lot of good kids could have got valuable playing time not just padding numbers

  30. Take you're 2000 kids and go beat up on some poor old little school somewhere ya big bullies. No, wait a minute, what's the GB enrollment again, something like 231 smh. Good grief schools 2 or 3 times your size crying over 3 or 4 LEGAL transfers over the last 3 or 4 years. I guess it's just a sign of the times, everybody thinks if little Johnny doesn't win a trophy then somebody owes them one anyway.

  31. Here are some of my thoughts from the Black Horse. Brother Martin dropping out at the last minute really hurt the level of competition. There was still plenty of great wrestling, but this tournament is usually a gauntlet when they bring two full squads. -Bradford from Blackman looked as good as advertised at 113. He wrestled a pretty strong junior from Bartlett in the semis and controlled the match from the parts that I saw. -Blackman can seriously contend for a top 4 spot. I knew they would have a handful on hammers that can go with anyone in TN, but their role-players looked tough as well. -The Brothers look good again. Their depth will allow them to be able to move some people around in duals for favorable match ups. Not sure if they will be able to compete with Baylor and McCallie, but that remains to be seen. -Austin Antcliffe is an absolute animal. I don't think he wrestled outside of the 1st period until the finals, and in that match against Sacharczyk he looked in control pretty much the whole time. -Collierville has a raw, but very promising prospect in Dawson at Hwt. I saw flashes of crazy athleticism from him and he definitely passes the eye test. -The new regime at Houston is off to a good start. For the first time since the late 90's someone other than Coach Holmes is at the helm for the Mustangs and I could already see a difference in the way they wrestled this weekend. Coach Holmes will surely be missed, but their new staff has those boys working!

  32. To answer a few questions. As of now Trousdale is not on the schedule. We don't have the common date to make it work. Also this morning I can confirm and would like to say. BOOM!

  34. As does the county schools as well. So what point are you proving. Everyone raves about Blackman and their staff and all these county school coaches but they've only made the semis once I believe so once again Metro coaches accomplish a lot more . Outside of Oakland, Indy, Ravenwood, Beech these so called highly thought of schools are not accomplishing much more than Metro schools

  35. The only problem would be there is only be one starter per weight class. Practice can only get you so far, the most growth comes from live action against other kids not in your practice room. Very rarely do HS teams have multiple guys able to start at Heavyweight. As far as the other weight classes, there's 220 and the 195 pound class below that. Occasionally you have a Clay Strawn (former starting lineman) who would cut 20 pounds or so down to 195 pound class for wrestling season. It would be great if all of our linemen were above 220, but we've always done more with less in terms of O line size and I'd take 5 Clay Strawns on the line every day of the week.

  36. Yes hope we can get back to Cookeville soon. Would love to play Central again! A+ class organization!!! If we had to lose it honestly couldn't be to a more deserving team! Glad they got that 1st championship! I remember our 1st title and its an amazing feeling

  37. I thought we were way too one-dimensional in these playoffs. However, I heard that our QB had been playing with a shoulder injury for several weeks. I actually hinted at it in a thread a couple weeks back fishing for confirmation, but I never got any. If that is true, then I understand the mindset. Passing the ball is such a rhythmic component of offense. Was really hoping we’d continue nursing the balance we had early in the year. But oh well, everything’s just ifs and buts at this point. Still a great year.

  38. Your original argument was that Oakland would get thrashed by an up-tempo offense. Not one time did I ever say this team was one of the best ever or anything of that sort. My entire original point was that they beat the teams in front of them to win a championship. The ONLY reason I even responded to you was because you’re one of those ‘imaginary football league’ people who is trying to downplay what these guys accomplished by coming up with scenarios that you ‘think’ they couldn’t have won. Your arguments have changed several times throughout the course of this entire thread, but, originally, you were trying to get folks on here to agree that they couldn’t beat this team or that team, when they beat who they played en route to Cookeville. They DID dominate in the playoffs and if you want to say that’s because 6A was down, not because they are actually THAT good, then you’re correct. We will have to agree to disagree. Most folks don’t agree with your assessment. Saying that I don’t see the rest of the state play when you have NO IDEA who I am is pretty shortsighted. You would be shocked at how many 5A and 6A teams I’ve seen play in person or on film. Would be willing to wager that it’s a LOT more than you have.

  47. Oakland wing t is a hybrid not your typical two tight end set. Occasionally they do that. They run shotgun an even a triple I in short yardage situations. They at times have 2 and 3 wideouts. Sure there run game is there bread and butter but all that other stuff makes them hard to prepare for. There are top high school teams all over the country that run the wing t from Oregan, Texas, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio and so forth. Also have you notice how well they do in 7 on 7 competition. Believe it or not they can pass when needed.
