  3. this game was a lot better than expected. SC scores as time expires, goes for 2 and the win and comes up short. Jackets win 34-33. 2 teams desperate for a win giving everything that had. what a game.

  4. WHY??? Chadwick is automatic from there.

  5. I disagree. Maryville has always beaten more talented teams by outcoaching, out game planning, and being more physical. They are no longer doing that every Friday night, and it’s a big reason why the program is where it is right now.

  6. I was hoping the coaching staff would make a lot of adjustments this off-season, but sadly that’s not the case. Same stuff as the last couple years. Disorganized offensively, play calling was interesting to say the least, and West knew what was coming about 80% of the snaps. First back to back losses since 2000. Yikes. This program is a shell of what it was just a few years ago. Something’s gotta change. And fast.

  9. Everyone can rest assured that the last thing the TSSAA want's is to be tied up in a long-drawn-out legal battle with a D2 school that has the money or "FREEE" attorneys to fight them. The last time this happened the TSSAA almost went bankrupt fighting against Brentwood Academy, and they won the case. In reality did they really win, or would they have been better off burying their head in the sand and allowing BA to do whatever they wanted? Yes, the TSSAA really wants this to go away, and they hope that no other schools force the issue, so they are not required to investigate anything.

  11. Here is my take on the game. Greeneville dominated the first quarter and Alcoa gained momentum back in the 2nd Quarter after the pick 6 and had the momentum before the weather delay. (Don't get me started on who ever made the play call to throw a roll out pass on your own 1 yard line instead of trying to get some breathing room and then run that play). Alcoa had made adjustments and Greeneville needed to make them on the O side of the ball. Greeneville was definitely gassed before half with so many players going both ways. Alcoa needs to keep Graf as the QB and believe he is the better of the two QB's. Pagach didn't look like a 3star QB with an Int (Almost threw two more). #7 Cannon is the cog that makes Alcoa's offense run and he is a great RB and LB. I also think people need to Call out Steve Starnes (The Greeneville Superintendent) for not at least waiting until midnight if the Alcoa Superintendent agreed to a midnight cutoff. I also would like to see the game made up because it was a slug fest between tow great teams. I can guarantee you players on both sides are feeling beat up today and cheated they didn't get to finish. As for as the delay before the storm past over the stadium I can guarantee you they were following the NFHS Lightning Guidelines that states "When lightning-detection devices or mobile phone apps are available, this technology could be used to assist in making a decision to suspend play if a lightning strike is noted to be within 10 miles of the event location." I know Greeneville put in a new weather detector this year.

  12. Barney's solution to this mess. Both teams meet halfway at Carson Newman either Saturday or Sunday. Both teams have enough time to rest for next week. Play during day so no expense for lighting and good chance to find officials. Don't tell me it can't be done because Alcoa and Maryville played Sunday on ESPN that time. Both AD's get this worked out asap this morning. This was a game both teams and fans waited forever for. Do the right thing.

  15. My couch coach opinion is that we need to start 5 at quarterback and 1 at wide receiver to jump start this offense

  17. Brentwood wins 17-14. Plain and simple, they played a cleaner game and made the big plays that we didn't. Hats off. They are really good. I'm very proud of HC's effort. We had a slew of penalties tonight that honestly should have put this game out of reach. The fact that we still had a chance at the end is telling. There is no quit in this team.

  18. May be wrong but Think LC will finish 3rd and SF 4th.Had SF won, would be reversed. They pretty good on offense but same as LC,not much on defense. But maybe Gleason may be better than I'm thinking. If so the loss tonight hurts SF.They shot themselves in the foot a couple series.Could have went either way.

  19. I get what you’re saying, but that’s not Maryville football. Maryville football is being the aggressor and putting pressure on defenses. Not just trying to shorten the game and keep it close.

  22. Eagleville does not look like the same team that played MC. Energy is low, missing the starting centet. They are down 19-0 halftime. Shooting themselves in the foot. Hope they come out to play in 2nd half or we will be headed home with a big L.

  32. Don't think Stone has answers for the QB. Heard he is lightening fast. It might be a good idea for stone to try and slow it down and not get in a shootout, but thats not what they do. not sure it's too close... White 34 - Stone 24

  36. I'm sure I'll regret posting this but many of the articles I am reading have quotes about "keeping Alcoa's offense out of the endzone." Suspicious choosing of quotes for a game that didn't reach halftime.

  40. Not that many people remember it .but there was a few times the onside kick did make a difference. Like the Riverdale game. They had two possessions they might not have had. Including a line drive kick to the front man that led to a recovery and a score and the final kick to Riverdale where a few plays later they ran the swinging gate. Oh yeah and might wanna look at the Gallatin game . Just sayin it did put some points on the board

  41. You do realize that Alcoa hadn't scored a single point the first half offensively right ?. No one knows for sure what would have happened the rest of the way. I felt like Alcoa had some momentum going finally. But that can all change on one play. I am not going to pretend to be nostradomus and say I know this or that was going to happen. It's high school football anything could have happened. I do know Greeneville was their own worse enemy with the holding call that brought back a Touchdown and a bad decision on a pick six from your own 1. I think Greeneville Dominated the first quarter and I think Alcoa out played them the 2nd up until the time the storm came. Two Good Football Teams. As far as playing tomorrow. I believe one reason it was a Thursday Game is because of the refs shortage local teams or required to play one Thursday game to help the situation. This was Greeneville's Thursday Game I am sure the referee crew has a game somewhere else tomorrow night. Plus hate to say it but in the 10 day forecast for here scattered thunder storms for for Friday , Saturday and Sunday

  43. im not totally sure what you are asking, but here goes. we will be going from one of the top QB's in the country to a good but unproven QB who will get his first start against baylor on the road. I think the game plan will be totally different. my comment about being a team was me being hopeful that everyone will rally, step up and play their best and not fall flat after a little adversity this week. did that answer your question? I think our offense looked too much like a one man show and needs to be lots of people stepping up. only time will tell.
