  1. Cat, you're entitled to your opinion. I've known Matt a long time, and we'll agree to disagree there.

  2. Congrats West. Hard earned win. And Powell fought like defending state champions do. No shame in losing this one.

  3. Fayetteville was the best Class A team I’ve seen this year and McKenzie beat them by 2 at home so I’ve got to believe they are just as good obviously. Clay is a huge underdog in this one. No one will expect them to be in the game so they won’t have anything to lose! They have athletes all over the field that much is for sure. For those of you that don’t know about Clay County I’d do my research. They had one of their own playing on ESPN tonight for the Tennessee Vols basketball team as a starter! This small school is no stranger to championship games. Most of these boys have one state championship ring already from the hard court in 2021’. So they will show up regardless of how big of an underdog they may be.

  5. Great heavyweight battle there. Good to see Lamar Brown get a shot at a title. Biggest difference with these two programs, is there’s one coach you would love for your son to play for, and one you wouldn’t. Figure that out as you want.

  6. I would be surprised if Cloudland did not make it to state. Their inside game, on both ends of the floor, made the difference. Well done, Lady Landers.

  9. Tell me why the margin needs to be that large? To embarrass the kids on the other side? To rub it in the noses of the coaches? If the discrepancy in talent is that noticeable then I’m sure the coaches from Clay will take the opportunity to get the younger players some experience and Coach them up to continue building a program. That would make more sense to me than seeing if you could drop 50-60 on a team. I promise you if you coach long enough you’ll end up on the other side of that beat down one day. You will reap what you sow…

  10. Yeah, nice that it’ll be covered there but it’s a shame that shuts down local streaming groups that have gladly paid the $750 fee to live stream the prior three rounds.

  11. True or False: You have to run a pro-style offense and throw 100 times per game... ? Is it possible for a high school team to make it to the title game by doing something as mundane as running it 95% of the plays?

  12. Tyner has a good team. Tyner beats McKenzie by 2 td’s just looking at how things would match up. Tyner has a monster D line and great speed And that’s not fair to McKenzie to make that fantasy matchup prediction because they have a good team but Tyner is just that good IMO

  13. Earlier in the week I said this game would probably be close. Truly felt that way and wasn't hedging my bets just in case. The talent discrepancy was noticeable very fast. Overall speed and talent was too much for Maryville. That said, Vaughn must be an incredibly special player because it is very difficult to imagine LaDue playing behind anyone. He runs hard and fast. Any team in the state would love to have him. Safe travels home Murvil folk. With a little luck we will line em up again next year. We'll wear the white jerseys next time.

  14. It's something that needs to be addressed at Haywood. The end zone's has been that way since lord knows when. But the TSSAA is more concerned with a player's knee pad showing rather than someone potentially tearing an ACL or breaking their leg because the took an awkward step on that end zone. TSSAA should have the authority to deemed that feel not safe to play. Which to me, it is not safe. You drive about 15-20 minutes north to Ripley, and part of their "end zone" is on their track. That part of their end zone is covered by some turf. However, if a player catches a pass and has a hard time stopping through the track, he could potentially end in a ditch that's about 3-5 feet deep. Regardless, what a football game!

  32. Well tired of reading about NFHS!! Good luck to both teams tonight. Should be a dandy of a game. River Rats can not let Huntingdon come out and set the tone! If they do it’s going to be a long night for them.

  34. And the band played on ….. I don’t think that the band playing or not playing will affect the outcome of tonight’s game. The team with more points at the end of the game wins. I expect a hard-fought contest and I’m pulling for my Chargers to take the win tonight.

  38. I watched the feed from the Fayetteville end on NFHS and honestly was quite happy with viewing experience. That cat knows the players on both teams and is very accurate giving a description of the action. Plus his camera gave me a pretty good look at the game. I would certainly recommend it over just listening on the radio. Obviously I’d have rather been there. But i got to see the game from a fixed position and enjoyed it. Very few technical issues considering the temps. I plan on watching McKenzie again tonight.

  43. Plenty of excitement in Bulldog Country. Thankful for the young men and the coaches on the team for giving us all a season to remember, even if we weren’t playing Friday. That being said, we are playing Friday and the best is yet to come. Been out painting the field getting it ready for these young men. Even though it was getting cold, it was a real treat for an old groundskeeper to FINALLY get to paint John Teeples Field up with my pals for semifinal action. Coalfield has some good linemen from what I’ve seen, but Clay has them beat at every skill position and most of the line from what I’ve seen. I hope the community pours out to Joe Neil Eads Stadium Friday Night for the first semi action in Celina since 1985. Y’all all enjoy your holiday tomorrow. The good Lord has blessed us all more than we even can comprehend.

  44. Never mentioned the Clinton loss to Oak Ridge. 7pts or 27pts. an L is an L. Maybe yall shouldn't have had that victory party on the Wed. night BEFORE the game! What I'm saying is all that crap that Clinton players and fans talked all summer long resulted in 0-5 in the region and totally left out of the playoffs. In this region! Sad. #SOC
