  1. We ain’t mailing nothing. That’s why we play this game!

  2. Part 2. I'll summarize what I said. Tyner is the beneficiary of a terrible East this year and has beaten a bunch of bad teams and several mediocre ones. They haven't had near the competition that Riverside has, nor the consistency for the last 5 years. Tyner's playoff wins have been over average teams (minus East Robertson), and the 7-5 York team they beat in the semis might not have been a playoff team in several other regions. Tyner fans are super-sensitive to even objective analysis, and believe they should be able to rant and rave about how great their team is, and if you say even one negative it's racially motivated. That's the truth and everyone here knows it. There is no profanity or hashtag spelling in this post.

  3. That is the same point we were at before Coach Wilson came to Springfield. The right person at the right spot can accomplish wonders

  9. You always need to look at POP's timestamp. He has a Jekyll and Hyde type thing going on that usually happens in the wee hours...probably caused (as was the good Dr.'s) by drinking some sort of potion. He "transforms" from IPOPU2022 into IPOPOFF2022.

  10. Buffalo and Kansas are the only ones to offer him this calendar year it looks like from an unapproved site. Who knows who will be there tomorrow watching if he shows out on the biggest stage. I think being in 1a has hurt him and Cassidy both, but they will both find a place they fit even if it is a smaller division school.

  11. Baylor’s pockets must be deeper than Mama’s Boy Academy because that first Baylor TD should not have counted. As my parole officer says “Money can’t buy happiness but it can buy a lot of things.”

  12. Dilfer must be bored riding back to Birmingham. Are you serious right now? Instead of wearing a vest, you should be wearing a helmet because it is clear you got some brain damage. They are not even the best Division II team of all time.

  13. Can someone just list the “actual offers” he has? Obviously it’s not a lot of power 5 teams. But what is his Top Offer. Maybe Wake Forest or South Alabama. He’s a great athlete and i wish him all the best at the next level regardless of where he goes.

  14. 3 quarter/semifinalists In Fayetteville, Coalfield, Giles, plus South Pittsburg and Jasper expecting big things next year. Watertown likely won’t remain down. Starts with local rival Bledsoe. Challenging for sure.

  15. Upset? That is crazy. The better team won and the championship was probably decided a week earlier.

  16. Dilfer is a disgrace to TN High School Football Coaching. You seem like a decent poster, still new so we will see. His antics are ridiculous and the HS game, at least in TN, doesn’t need it. Glad to see him go. Warming up at another HS and bussing in with 2:00 on the clock before game time, absurd. I was the color guy on our radio broadcast for 8 years. We had 1 opposing coach in 8 years refuse to do a 5 minute phone interview for the pregame show during game week. Take a guess who that self righteous coach was? And the post game interview today, with the fake crying??? You guys should be embarrassed by that on TV. Let alone throwing it in the end zone with :29 to go…. Lipscomb is getting ready to pay a bunch of receipts over the next few years.

  17. - I thought dilfer showed restraint with the score. he ground out the whole second half with no huge chunk plays that I can remember. - best i could tell, spillman hit him as he threw the ball and it wasn't malicious. it's football. - sorry they didn't play back-ups the way you wanted.

  18. lots of haters. where to start? - most people I know like the direction lipscomb university and the academy are heading and think it is more true to the mission than ever. if you don't like it and you don't have kids there, who cares? by the way lowry is still there. - maybe next year is rough. maybe it's not. lipscomb was a doormat for years. who's to say this wasn't their revenge tour? dilfer took a terrible team to the championship game in 2 years. then won the next two. that's pretty amazing. 75% in the championship game, 50% state champion. and he didn't inherit a program rolling like other successful coaches. I think he deserves some respect and im grateful he came to LA for 4 years. @BreadTruck28 it was great to meet you. sorry the game wasn't closer. maybe i'll see you at baseball or basketball soon.

  19. Other than Joslin this entire post is bogus. Lassiter retired after 14 years at Gallatin, how is that running him off? Brent Alexander was offered a position during Lassiter's tenure and declined it. Dewayne Alexander is a Hendersonville graduate. Dewayne's son's father-in-law is an assistant at Beech, so that would explain his move there. Lassiter's pick to succeed him was not Brent, his recommendation was actually who got the job.

  22. With the population base in Tennessee being 7.1 million there is absolutely no reason to have more than 4 divisions for football, basketball, volleyball, softball and baseball and that is with D1 & D2 being combined. All individual sports such as cross country, wrestling, track & field, etc... would play in 1 division. Class A: Small rural public schools. Absolutely no private schools, magnet schools or charter schools Class AA: public schools, charter schools, magnet schools and private schools that DO NOT offer financial aid or work study Class AAA: public schools, charter schools, magnet schools and small private schools that offer financial aid and or work study Class AAAA: public schools, charter schools, magnet schools and large private schools that offer financial aid and or work study

  23. Such a tired statement. I don't think anyone is scared, but going and taking a high scoring loss every season is tough, especially week one. Coaches are trying to get player buy in and it takes weeks to recover. Cupcake, McMinn played 3 teams in Centrals region. Probably didn't help there team playing smaller schools either. As I stated, a black and blue game imo is the best option. Really McMinn has the most to lose if they are defeated in this game.

  24. I agree, it would take quite a crew to "overwhelm" this West team. I've got the Rebs by a couple trickles.

  25. Congratulations to both schools. You made it the final prize. Win or lose you all did something that the other several teams in class 1 a couldn't do and that is get to the final game and contend for a championship. I've been on both sides of winning it all and losing it, lot's of emotions that will be played in your minds for a long time. Enjoy this time because you might not ever get back again. Nothing is promised. From this Army veteran I salute both teams.

  27. I would think this is a time sensitive hire. Other schools are going to start trying cherry pick players with a hire in question.

  28. Exactly... Finally someone with some sense. There's an awful lot of dust collected on them old trophies in the case. And that paint on the side of the stadium that says "State Champions" is faded badly. The Wave is just another mid tier program now. MOJO

  29. Correct. It wasn't for losing money. It was for losing focus of the school's mission statement.

  32. I am just seeing this thread and figure it's worthy of an explanation or two... I am attempting to compile this weekly poll based on strength of schedule, win/loss, and over all body of work. If a team goes out of state and loses to a top team from another state, or one of the top teams in the country, I am not going to penalize them as much as losing to an in-state unless it's a bad loss. The in-state games and match-ups are easier to compare when doing a ranking like this. Webb is the most talented team in the state, and probably the country, but their loss to La Lumiere was a bad loss thus resulting in them dropping to #4. Warren County looked like a team that was primed for a huge season when I saw them this summer... now that the season is here, we see they're not quite what I thought they were. A good team, but not a top team... I would be glad to come on here following the release of the ranking each week and explain why I've got teams in certain spots... or don't have them in certain spots. I may be setting myself up in doing this, but it certainly makes for conversation.

  33. Seems to be a theme this week. People trying to blow up championship threads. I’m glad the McKenzie posters are to classy to bite on this mess.

  34. Don’t think anyone would argue that. They’ll be a pretty good football team that won’t make the playoffs out of this region yearly IMO.

  35. David Shannon is doing just fine raising money at Freed Hardeman. I also know quite a few former Lipscomb donors who switched their giving path. Freed doesn't have the need for billions of dollars. If Lipscomb still had their priorities in order they would not either. The Screen name you decided to register for two posts is funny to me since it was the same Mr. Lowry that you wax so eloquently about who tried to have them close the Campus school so he could expand the college. The board flatly said no. Want to refute that?

  37. Going to be a tall task for the Mavs. PC been here before, and this time it’s not against Alcoa. Maybe PC comes in and takes the lead, but the Mavs have been like nova cane, give it a few minutes and I believe they rally back for the W. Congrats to both teams for making it this far. I wish the best for both teams. Please take it easy on Mavsinflight. He’s very excited for his team, this is the 1st time for team making the trip to the championship and he is like a young man in a candy store. Mavs 38 PC 37 Enjoy it MIF, cause next year Greene will start the new winning streak back over the mavs

  39. Some insider info here and quite shocking news is that Boffa was the predetermined hire before Watson resigned. He's always wanted the job and will undoubtedly do well at Gallatin since he is a top tier coach with a winning record. Has won 3 titles at 2 different schools.

  40. Every little faction needs to get on board with whomever is chosen. We need the best possible coach out there. There needs to be input from Short, QB Club, big supporters, anybody that loves the Green Wave. Becker, Sanders , Frech whoever can make the final hire but the community needs to be backing up that hire. A committee to help assist with finding a good coach would help!! Get more people invested in this process.

  42. Turn it all off, nothing but propaganda on all the major news outlets, its nothing more than professional wrestling, all these big politicians are on one side, they just yak backwards and forwards trying to divide us. They sit back and laugh at our ignorance. I never dreamed we had so many sheep needing someone to do their thinking for them, its pretty obvious, a lot of us will believe whatever news outlet we tend to listen to.Half the junk they say is really comical if it wasn't so dangerous. Most of us are really in the middle, this far right and far left stuff is for the birds.

  43. I really don't see a clear common-sensical solution. Reducing the classes would be fair in keeping with the basic formula of assigning them by enrollment, but not so much in forcing smaller schools to compete against schools over twice their size. Not to say that the enrollment advantage can't be overcome, just that there is a clearly defined advantage. Moving up successful programs is essentially punishing them for achieving their goals, and I don't agree with the "if it's hard, we'll change the rules" approach to reward mediocrity with an advantage over the successful just because some fail consistently and some succeed consistently. Leaving everything "as is" and having some subpar teams making the playoffs while better teams are at home and having some lopsided results as the result isn't perfect, and when a good solution to prevent that comes along I'll be on board. As things are, I see the current system as less of a problem than creating advantages/disadvantages where none exist in order to guarantee close games in the playoffs. A rural/urban split would involve population density in order to define the line between them and anytime you involve that, along follows politics, opinions, and perception, and none have a place in fairness. Once the determination is set for population, do you include magnets and/or charters with which, or separate them from both and include them with privates, or do you separate each into their own classification? Do you classify from population density or school enrollment within each class? Too many questions and not enough legitimate answers. A merit system could achieve the result of evenly matched playoff games but would completely eliminate the "level playing field" aspect of TSSAA"s mission statement. Win for a couple of seasons, and move up a class (my perception of the meaning) sounds great, but what do you do with Alcoa? Keep moving them up and they keep winning, so we create more restrictions...bearing in mind the last 20 years record, next season they would have to play in the SEC wearing handcuffs and ankle shackles while blindfolded. A tongue in cheek example, but based in fact... it's not in the spirit of fairness to restrict one while playing against another just because one works harder or is more talented. All just an opinion thrown out there for discussion.

  46. Fayetteville was the best Class A team I’ve seen this year and McKenzie beat them by 2 at home so I’ve got to believe they are just as good obviously. Clay is a huge underdog in this one. No one will expect them to be in the game so they won’t have anything to lose! They have athletes all over the field that much is for sure. For those of you that don’t know about Clay County I’d do my research. They had one of their own playing on ESPN tonight for the Tennessee Vols basketball team as a starter! This small school is no stranger to championship games. Most of these boys have one state championship ring already from the hard court in 2021’. So they will show up regardless of how big of an underdog they may be.
