  1. Clearly there is an issue with the family. It was discussed in the article from the kid. If the kid doesn’t live with guardians he can still be eligible if he is deemed homeless. Which means the child doesn’t have a safe environment at home for whatever reason and can live with friends, family, etc. I don’t know all the facts but what I do know is unless you’re his momma then neither do you. Keep a kids name out of your mouth and stop airing his personal life on a forum. Maybe let the TSSAA do their job and stop coming across as a lowlife bitter fan of another team. I know for a fact Alcoa and other Knox County schools have taken advantage of this rule several times throughout the years. Maybe the only person uninformed is you kinfolk. I’m just keeping it real

  3. Typical Memphis garbage. They get put in 2A, appeal, get moved back to 1A, keep adding player. Not just students, football players. This is a sad injustice to small school everywhere.

  4. "This past March, less than 10 of our student athletes transferred to a different school while Freedom Prep was undergoing leadership change in our athletics department. Before they transferred, our leadership team expressed concern to the students' parents that the student athletes might be deemed ineligible to play, based on TSSAA guidelines. Freedom Prep was not involved with the ultimate eligibility decision. Our leadership team will continue to evolve and enhance our athletics department for the advancement of our students and our network as a whole." TSSAA strikes again. Combining two schools last season created a 1A all-star team that failed to win it all so they allowed a third team to join forces in 1A. Memphis is skirting the rule. Charter schools should play in private division. They are hand picking athletes from across Memphis to compete against 1A teams from small rural towns. Definition of unfair competitive advantage and another TSSAA failing.

  7. As of this morning, Beech's Shackle Island Stadium has been condemned until further notice. Beech vs Station Camp will be moved to White House's field Friday night. Those plans could change as well depending on tests at other Sumner County sights. Also to note Hendersonville's visitors side has also been condemned leaving them 1 side. Gallatin and Portland are receiving testing this afternoon. Will update when I know more.

  8. No real difference. Just some kids and families trying to do what they think is best for them. If it’s legit I wish them the best regardless of where they’re attending. If it’s not then it should be dealt with severely. If the school knows it’s not legit they should be dealt with also. All in all I really don’t have any bad feelings towards anyone or any program that handles these situations on the up and up.

  9. Nope just think the rules should apply to everyone even if they have a D1 offer and especially if they manipulate a story to get sympathy

  10. This is an interesting topic that gets touched on every year but for whatever reason nothing is ever done to fix the problem. When schools sign contracts for football games why don't they put in a 20K or 25K buyout clause? As things stand it's only a nominal fee if a team does not honor the return trip of the contract. When teams fail to honor the signed contracts, it really puts the other teams is a scheduling bind.

  18. Arguments regarding this have been going on for a while but the one angle I've yet to hear is how this is good (or bad) for the athlete. All most posters seem to care about is how it impacts their team's ability to win. I, for one, think it's a good move for the Norman kids. Baylor's schedule is one a the best in the southeast and I think they will be pushed academically & athletically to be better versions of themselves. It's a tough go for DB but likely, really good for the kids. I look forward to seeing how they do next year!

  19. OP transfer rules are just that.Believe it or not.He has to have the same living situation he had at the previous school.Student Athlete. I personally don't care either way.But I would not bet a Gold or Silver ball on not knowing the rules.

  21. From everything I've read or heard about Central, I think the coaches are optimistic with what they've seen in 7 on 7's, as well as the scrimmages they've been involved in. Naturally, there's always room for improvement with any team. Central has a good coaching staff and they're building a good program. Signal had a pretty good team last year. I don't know much about them this year though. Do they still have the same QB who could sling the ball pretty good?

  22. This was the game plan 2 years ago. The amount of pressure they got on DC was incredible. They were in the back field on every play.

  23. Different year same discussion. Nobody was going to be able to compete with all that talent last year either then we saw how that turned out they got blanked in the semi finals. Can't wait for the Youtube videos though.

  26. I wouldn't at all be surprised if Portland home side and Gallatin home side isn't condemned by tonight.... And this is 100% on Sumner County not the schools.

  30. Totally agree, 25,000 minimum. If you fill a 5000 seat stadium at $10. A head, plus your revenue from concessions, 25,000 is cheap. As a school administrator I was the acting AD, I called an opponent we had played for 8 decades for them to return the contract. Late July, not only had they not returned the contract but they had replaced us. We lost a home game and traveled to Kentucky for a ball game. Swipes was on that team.

  31. Based on your stance I will assume you haven’t heard the comments from their kids in regards to their facilities vs the facilities of the others. I would agree with what you said if I hadn’t heard the demeaning comments myself. You can’t buy wins and tradition. For that I would pick every other school in Sumner County.

  32. I still drop in to check on my redneck buddies from time to time As far as the radio show goes, that would definitely be a short lived program!!! All these guys on here now wouldn't be able to handle the fire that was thrown out years ago. Oh, but what I would give to get the same stuff going on that DII board.....those stuck up people would be like Lovey Howell, passing out all over the place when they read those old posts! Good luck this year fellas, I'll be following along.

  36. You're the only guy in 30+ years I've ever heard to have something negative to say about Eddie Courtney. Other coaches, players, teachers even the Refs like and respect Eddie because he's done it the right way his entire career! I bet your family is proud of you....what's next..?..you headed over to Fulton to kick dirt on Coach Black's grave?!

  39. I read the quote as Joey wasn’t exactly thrilled to be at the jamboree rather than the performance. He said in the paper the starters only worked goal line offense so I guess we take that with a grain of salt. Also after seeing pictures, it was an absolute monsoon.

  41. The difference between Mitchell or Fairley and Collierville or Germantown is about like comparing Lake County or West Carroll to Henry County or Haywood. Its the same sport sure but entirely different leagues. I expect Riverside to keep it close but ultimately lose by 2 or 3 scores. Same thing I expect will happen to Union City honestly

  44. Last night was the first time I’ve seen the Jackets. Some of the 1st team trench players appear to be stocky but just short. Looks like tallest starting lineman is roughly 6 ft. They seemed like they could move and fire off the ball. Not sure how good of a measuring stick Rossview was. I liked the speed. I think we’ll miss #9……he brought the thunder. As for the Bobcats…..against a even smaller Kirkwood team that had dudes that looked like they were 5 ft 5 on the DL….the Cats had trouble opening holes for 11 (who has the size for the position). He was stuffed a handful of times. Appears Cats had trouble with speed. QB9 had to scramble couple times out of the pocket but did a decent job finding an open receiver 10-15 yds down field. Another thing I noticed about Greenbrier is they had alot of penalties….with the starters they had 3rd and 20-25 a couple of times last night. Cats were in a 3-3-5 defense pretty much whole game and Kirkwood did move the ball against them. Will be interesting to see if they stay with it or change it up. Game is at the Nest, cross town rivals, several new starters, first game jitters, from what I gathered last night…..I expect the Jackets to make it 10 in a row against the Cats. 27-7 Jackets

  45. One post says 2nd place could be a stretch. Another says an undefeated season is realistic. I LOVE the preseason! There is so much hope and excitement. That's why high school football is so special and will always be king in little towns across the state. I wish everyone a safe and healthy season because we'd all love to see these teams at their best against each other. I honestly think Cornersville will be a .500 team but will gladly admit I'm wrong if they run the table.
