  1. Fayetteville is in the right. This all hinges on the definition of ‘territory’. Here is the TSSAA definition. *** Territory – For a public school, the “territory” of the school is the geographic boundaries and bus routes of the area served by that school as established by the local board of education. For a system-wide public school or a home school student participating at a public school, the “territory” of the school is the geographic boundaries of the school system. For a non-public school or a home school student participating at a non-public school, the “territory” of the school is the area within a twenty (20) mile radius from the school. *** Now, the ‘bus route’ specification is quite clearly meant to apply to ‘zoned’ school districts, with multiple high schools (NOT system-wide schools) in specific and enforced zones within a system. The territory for a zoned HS among multiple High schools in the system is within the bus routes of the particular zone and also within the geographic boundaries of the system that fall within that zone. The territory for a ‘system-wide’ HS is only the geographic boundaries - bus routes do not apply (they are intended to define the zones for multi-school systems). Fayetteville is clearly a system-wide school, since there is only one HS in the system. By the TSSAA’s rules, Fayetteville’s territory is defined exclusively by the geographic boundaries (all of Lincoln County acc’d to the school board, which the TSSAA recognizes has full authority in this matter). I don’t know if this was an attempt by the TSSAA to subvert the rules or simply an inability to correctly understand and apply them, but it’s quite clear that the previous ruling is incongruent with the published TSSAA rules and definitions.

  2. i personally do not have a dog in this fight, but the thread caught my attention and i actually took the time to read all 21 pages. The thing that i think a lot of people are missing is that a student entering 9th grade can go to any school that will admit him and be immediately eligible. But if he enters a school in any grade other than 9th, he will be considered a transfer student and must follow all the rules that apply for that. a lot of posters are saying that all of these open zone schools have ineligible players based on the "Bus route" rule. The "bus route" rule only applies to transfers. So if a student entered the open zoned school as a 9th grader the rule doesn't apply. Also once a student has been at a school for 12 months, he is no longer considered a transfer student and the bus route rule would no longer apply, so basically he would be ineligible for 12 months then he could play.

  3. I realize the TSSAA is out for profits (higher payrolls) and it would seem that kicking Fayetteville out would hurt their bottom line. So to me something has got to be real fishy on the Fayetteville side. If you are clearly in the right why not have your meeting today and then lawyer up if it doesn’t go to suit you?

  4. We apologize for the short notice, but we learned this morning that a temporary restraining order has been issued restraining the TSSAA from conducting the hearing scheduled for this afternoon regarding the ongoing issue surrounding their ruling delivered last week. As a result of this step, we will not be appearing for an appeal hearing with TSSAA Board of Control at this point, but we will however present our case in front of a court of law to be conducted at a later date.... The decision to seek relief in court was not made in haste. We feel that this course of action is the most appropriate step to address this situation for the benefit of our players and coaches. Sincerely, Adam McCormick, Principal Fayetteville High School

  5. In 2017 Alcoa had a last minute drive to win 35-31, nobody gave DB a chance in that game either and they nearly pulled it off. Idle random smack talk along the lines of "Yep them Indians done gonna put a whuppin on that Tornado" is one thing, but to lay out a structured analysis (like "strong defenses keep the score low on both sides"), isn't that real football talk? As for crow, sometimes you do have to take a spoonful, but it can be quite tasty (http://www.crowbusters.com/recipes.html) with Crow Creole being my personal favorite.

  7. This is what happens when you create a culture where everybody gets a trophy. Instead of trying to get better, teams want to try to eliminate the competition. What Alcoa & Maryville are doing isn't rocket science. It does however take time. You want to take em down? Build your program from the bottom to the top

  9. In an effort to help promote and spotlight our sport we will be hosting a wrestling media day on November 11th at 6:30 pm at Centennial's performance art building. Our county does this every year for football and basketball and we got them on board to do one for wrestling this year. All teams from Williamson County Schools will be present. We are excited to let our athletes have a little bit of time to talk about themselves, their teams and their love for the sport. Thanks and maybe see some of you there.

  18. The way I feel is people are making the decisions based on the information that’s provided for them to see right now and don’t have the full story. Maybe that’s what TSSAA did in September they made there decision on the information that was provided to them and then at a later date more findings was found so they had to go back and change there decision!!

  21. Thanks for the clarification. On a side note, don't be surprised if every little thing gets called against the tigers and not much against the opposing team. With a letter from TSSAA clearing the player and then turn around and change it with nothing else happening puts a little egg on their face. Now with everything else, just my opinion, folks are going to want to get the tigers out of the playoffs ASAP. Not a conspiracy theorist or anything, but wouldn't be surprised.

  24. If it is the player I think it is, he played for Hazel Green, AL in 2017 and Sparkman, AL in 2018. Not sure as to when he moved in(was told yesterday he lived in Lincoln county most of his life). He was plaing in Alabama last season. I do hope something gets worked out. This is getting more and more messy by the minute.

  27. I think you guys are safe. If DB was capable of that, they wouldn't have lost to SH, no matter what the weather was like

  28. DB has been very good against the run all season. Science Hill has probably the best offensive line DB has faced this year and they held the Toppers to just 11 yards rushing. Science Hills line however is just average compared to Alcoa. The big problem for DB is the only pass defense they have is the pass rush. The defensive backfield is terrible, which if you follow DB football you know that's a tradition. Science Hill beat DB by throwing short quick passes. 20 of them to be exact. Science Hill is a average team at best and they had no problem passing. I figure Alcoa is a good enough team that they'll be able to do whatever they want on offense but if the run is not there the short passes will be wide open all night long. DB can't stop the pass. Never have, never will. Alcoa 41 DB 7

  32. Maybe not the obvious favorite, but definitely the favorite. MJ has beaten, or barely lost to the teams that Hville has lost close, and lost by wider margins by. MJ wins a close game.

  33. I think LC's middle school team from 2015 should be ahead of the #10 ranked 4th grade team. After all, their only loss came to Memphis Bellevue in the West Tennessee Sectional Finals. That Bellevue team was as big as a lot of 1A teams in the state today.

  34. I said before the season if they wanted it bad enough 6-4 was out there because I knew for a fact Mo. West, Sevier Co.,Lenior City and Heritage were all having problems. I also heard Ooltewah and Cleveland would be in a major rebuilding mode. I knew no way in the world you all had a chance against Bradley and Maryville. I also knew Elizabethton was sort of in a rebuilding mode but they have a winning program under Whiten and just reload like Maryville so I figured that one as a loss. The only team I had very little knowledge of was McMinn County but you all beat them last year so I even said 7 and 3 wasn't out of the question. Well your 3-6 and play a very weak 5A team you should beat this week and I will be pulling for Cleveland to see you all get in the playoffs. WB needs a real young coach that can identify with those 20 or 30 kids walking the halls down there that can play and would help the team and so does Heritage. You all have beat 3 teams this year that are 0-9, 1-8 and 3-6. You lost to 2 teams I thought you would beat that are 2-7 and 3-6 right now. The teams I thought you would lose to are 9-0, 9-0 and 7-2. The team I really didn't know about is 8-1. The team you play Friday is 1-8. Now can you see why I said 6-4 if they really wanted it bad enough but so much silly stuff happens down there that we're looking at 4-6 possibly and with the help from Cleveland for a playoff spot. If WB keeps winning one extra game a year they will eventually get there in the year 2025.

  36. Yes you did. That’s actually the way I saw it going as well. Would be nice to see HC make another trip to Shackle Island in a few weeks... I believe Beech has a little tougher road to get there though.

  38. My top 10 1. South Pittsburg - Nothing to be said here. They've been odds-on favorites all year. 2. Lake County - This is their year to get it done. Probably could call them 1B to SP's 1A. 3. Huntingdon - Yet another undefeated regular season. 4. Greenback - Hottest team in 1A not named South Pitt 5. Fayetteville - Not taking them out until their appeal is heard. 6. Monterey - Know nothing about them except the record. 7. Huntland - 2 of their 3 losses against top 5 1A teams and a big time win over Cornersville. 8. Cornersville - Will still be a tough out come playoff time 9. Greenfield - Lost to one of the best teams in 1A, but they were exposed a bit. Have to see how they bounce back. 10. McEwen - They hung with Huntingdon for a quarter and have since proven to be a tough, scrappy team.

  39. I'm going with MBA, a team which is much better than its 5-4 record suggests. But this is a revenge game for CBHS standout RB Al Wooten and the other Christian Brothers seniors who were sophomores on that great 2017 team which lost 14-7 at home against MBA in the semifinals two years ago. While it was huge for MBA, a playoff semifinal win on the road, the outcome deprived us of what would have been a fascinating matchup: 2017 BA's offense vs. 2017 CBHS' defense. But I anticipate both teams will be fired up for it, history or not. CBHS knows with a loss it will have a five hour bus ride each way to/from Chattanooga to face McCallie. And it's even higher stakes potentially for MBA since the Big Red can still get the #2 seed if they win and if 9-0 Briarcrest wins at home against MUS.

  40. Anyone else want to step up and play the two teams Watertown lost to? Nolensville 8-1 , Upperman 8-1. Yet they drop in the polls. They bought into playing tough out of region competition. They are finally going to enter the post season battle tested. I'm putting them in Cookville in my bracket this year.

  42. Well fair weather fan, the D don't stink. But from what I see is we lost #22 LB, had to move #1 to LB and put a Soph at corner. Plus we play about 17-19 kids. Looks like there are about 15 freshman outta of 40 kids. These 17 kids playing both way are Gassed, it's not because they are out of shape either, just playing both ways is tough. But I think we will lick our wounds and be ready Friday night. Win Friday night and be 8-2.with 2 looses on last second score and a non score (vs boone). Away from being 10-0. But our D Stinks, your funny stockboy

  44. I don't know were you get the stangs have better team speed. LC has that advantage. Line play favors LC regardless what you want to believe. Yes, we can throw on Huntingdon we can also run it on them. LC has more playmakers than Huntingdon. LC is just as physical or more so than Huntingdon. All year LC has been building depth on the lines and linebacker. Nobody but Greenfield has seen LC true starting defense. Two major players have played very little defense all year but they are now. Stang fans have their opinions and we have ours. Black Friday if both teams stay healthy and one team in particular hold their end of the bargain up then we will see. Your QB will not be the fastest player on the field I promise you that. Lawton good back but no more physical than Tubbs plus Tubbs is the better back.
