  6. Would you cry if they took the name Pearl out and changed it to something else? When they closed Pearl and Cohn and combined them they could have named the school after someone that 99% of the kids had never heard of, but instead they paid homage to the alumni of the two schools and named it Pearl-Cohn. New School should be either Hillvue or Bellwood, period.

  7. Negative, not in these Rebels heads. Plow will just be another game. I say West High Rebs win tonight by half a trickle.

  9. At the half-way point of the 2022 football season, we can begin to discuss possible 3A Mr. Football candidates. Covington has senior Jamarion Dowell, an All-State running back last year. A fte r 5 games, Dowell has rushed for 629 yards on 60 carries, for a 10.5 yard per carry average, and has scored 12 touchdowns. His backfield mate, Skylan Smith, is just a sophomore, but has similar stats: 52 carries for 606 yards and 10 touchdowns, to average over 11 yards a carry. These backs each sat out most of the second half in three of the 5 games Covington has played, when the coach pulled the starters as the mercy rule kicked in. Who else out there is accumulating good stats?

  10. Been saying this for years, the issue is at the very top, sports is just not a priority, the pay for coaches in all sports is among the lowest in the state (at least the last I heard, a few years ago), coincidentally as you mentioned Murfreesboro, Rutherford Co is among the highest paid...

  11. That's a good pick. I don't know his stats, but that dude is beast.

  13. First time I've seen a team get a "Con Graduations" for losing a game.

  14. I don't know that last drive before the ball went over the punters head looked pretty conservative to me. That could have easily been 6 the other way. If they had went for it on fourth down and not made it Oak Ridge would actually had worse field position. Also if the Oak Ridge receiver hadn't dropped that wide open pass with less than a minute left that most likely would have been 6. Then there was the TD in the first quarter that got called back because a block in the back by a player 20 yards behind the ball carrier. It's week 9 and we're making mistakes you wouldn't see in the pee wee leagues. There was some high spots in the game but dang. I thought both teams played like it was the first game of the season.

  16. The three guys signaling has to be the biggest joke I've ever seen. Everyone is totally confused especially when we lost 20 seconds with time running. That gave me flashbacks of the Alcoa game when that happened tonight. Their so predictable even a caveman can tell you what their going to do.

  22. I had an issue with the logo and the black background but I figured it out. It's an odd collection, but with them all being in a different "class", it makes it easy to pull for all of them.

  25. Just don't drink the water in dresden. I can tell you, an abnormally high amount of parents are crae crae. Not sure if its the water, but not taking any chances.....i keep calling an ex qb lawyer type about it but he ignores my calls. Luckily hevy believes in conspiracy stuff so he is checking on it. I heard they started shipping the craziest of the area to florida. Smart

  27. Since the Pirates are off this week a blackout makes perfect sense. We all show up in our black attire, it'll look like Jasper has a yuge home crowd on hand.

  28. Every year this region is bad. Central won back to back championships and the region was bad. West will most likely win the state this year and the region is bad. Goes to my point, strengthen of schedule means nothing. You have the horses or you don't!

  29. I couldn't find one of their logos with a black background. I'll have to figure out a way to do it.

  31. This team is just very business like. They have a group of seniors with a few juniors mixed in that have played in alot of big football games together. Remember they returned 18-19 starters. They believe they can win every game ahead of them moving forward if they continue to just do West.

  32. this makes no sense and wasn’t thought out before posted lol. How is powell is wests head? By beating them last year? West beat powell in 2020 and put them out in 2019. That’s totally irrelevant.

  33. Lol ok sir I get it you can call holding on every play in football. The BTW game was a hostile environment from the jump! The MASE kids was protecting their teammates for the Bull jive that’s was going on! BTW didn’t want to play football . They wanted to fight from on set of the game! BTW had several kids ejected from the game not MASE! So discipline is not an issue with MASE!

  34. If the lack of coaching on the defensive side of the ball for Huntingdon hasnt miraculously changed over the bye week, it will be a long night. Can’t play man coverage with your 4 DBs and allow your linebackers to have zero coverage responsibilities and think you can win a football game in 2022

  36. South Gibson will be a really tough out as well as South Side. Word on the street is South Gibson’s girls are really hungry and working a ton on their own. Wouldn’t suprise me if they really make a splash similar to what Tennessee Football has done. They are going to get some revenge this year.

  37. If JMCSS invested into North Side and Liberty when they were both winning in the early 2010's, would Tyler Turner, Steve Hookfin, and Tab Vowell leave? I doubt it. They were proven coaches that made deep playoff runs. JMCSS missed that opportunity window to invest into the athletes back then, which is an appreciation for their success. It's sort of a tricker down effect: 1) Raise taxes to build nice facilities like they did in Collierville/Middle Tennessee. Both in the school and in the athletic fields. 2) have a school system that is willing to invest in facilities and is willing to make sure all teams have the opportunity to be successful 3) Coaches see what's going on in from a facility standpoint. They feel appreciated for the success and feel wanted to be there. 4) The on-field product should be better because coaches have the facilities to improve their teams throughout a period of time. Does it work everywhere? No. But I think Milan spent $3 million for a brand new stadium. I do believe they have a new indoor facility opening up, too. It's not a matter of if, but when will Haywood County invest into new facilities? They're in talks of getting a brand new stadium, and potentially an athletic complex for baseball/softball. South Gibson built a brand new baseball (both middle and high school field), a new softball field, a new soccer field, and a new indoor facility for their minor sport athletes. Tipton County school put turf field and those new LED lights for all three of their high schools. Munford and Covington could both be playing in Chattanooga in December. Long story short: JCM played a school in football called Liberty Creek. They're a brand new school in Gallatin that, like JCM, is playing football this year to develop and get ready to start actual play in 2023. Both schools are not actually playing "varsity" football. Not eligible. Liberty Creek has a new double decker type football stadium, with an indoor practice field and top notch weight room inside of that. The investment is already there. And if they have a double decker type stadium and an indoor practice field, I can't imagine how nice the actual school is. Meanwhile, JCM's doesn't know where they're going to be playing high school football in 2023. One team, Liberty Creek, has a foundation in place for their teams to be successful. Unfortunately, JCM does not because they don't have a stadium. If Erit Turner struggles at JCM, it's because JMCSS didn't have a plan in place for him to be successful to begin with. It's 2022, it's not the 1980's anymore.

  39. I completely agree. Region 4A almost became a disaster as Gordonsville was very close to moving up (and could in the next classification if everything keeps growing in that part of Smith County). That would have left Clay County, Jo Byrns, and RBS as the only three teams in the region. The next closest teams to add would be Harriman from the East, Whitwell/Sale Creek/South Pitt from South, or possibly a team like Moore County/Cornersville, which would move another team out a region with more natural opponents. The other option would have been to absolve Jo Byrns into a region further west, Clay County/RBS into existing Region 2 or Region 3, and then split another region somewhere into two separate ones. This situation is a good argument for five classes, as Jackson County, Gordonsville, and Trousdale County would all safely be 1A and then you could have a legitimate 6-7 team region.
