  1. Cat, you're entitled to your opinion. I've known Matt a long time, and we'll agree to disagree there.

  2. Congrats West. Hard earned win. And Powell fought like defending state champions do. No shame in losing this one.

  3. Fayetteville was the best Class A team I’ve seen this year and McKenzie beat them by 2 at home so I’ve got to believe they are just as good obviously. Clay is a huge underdog in this one. No one will expect them to be in the game so they won’t have anything to lose! They have athletes all over the field that much is for sure. For those of you that don’t know about Clay County I’d do my research. They had one of their own playing on ESPN tonight for the Tennessee Vols basketball team as a starter! This small school is no stranger to championship games. Most of these boys have one state championship ring already from the hard court in 2021’. So they will show up regardless of how big of an underdog they may be.

  5. Great heavyweight battle there. Good to see Lamar Brown get a shot at a title. Biggest difference with these two programs, is there’s one coach you would love for your son to play for, and one you wouldn’t. Figure that out as you want.

  6. I would be surprised if Cloudland did not make it to state. Their inside game, on both ends of the floor, made the difference. Well done, Lady Landers.

  9. Tell me why the margin needs to be that large? To embarrass the kids on the other side? To rub it in the noses of the coaches? If the discrepancy in talent is that noticeable then I’m sure the coaches from Clay will take the opportunity to get the younger players some experience and Coach them up to continue building a program. That would make more sense to me than seeing if you could drop 50-60 on a team. I promise you if you coach long enough you’ll end up on the other side of that beat down one day. You will reap what you sow…

  10. Yeah, nice that it’ll be covered there but it’s a shame that shuts down local streaming groups that have gladly paid the $750 fee to live stream the prior three rounds.

  11. True or False: You have to run a pro-style offense and throw 100 times per game... ? Is it possible for a high school team to make it to the title game by doing something as mundane as running it 95% of the plays?

  12. Tyner has a good team. Tyner beats McKenzie by 2 td’s just looking at how things would match up. Tyner has a monster D line and great speed And that’s not fair to McKenzie to make that fantasy matchup prediction because they have a good team but Tyner is just that good IMO

  13. And Oakland got boat raced by a soon to be 6 loss CPA team lmao. Neither of those games matter now.

  14. It's something that needs to be addressed at Haywood. The end zone's has been that way since lord knows when. But the TSSAA is more concerned with a player's knee pad showing rather than someone potentially tearing an ACL or breaking their leg because the took an awkward step on that end zone. TSSAA should have the authority to deemed that feel not safe to play. Which to me, it is not safe. You drive about 15-20 minutes north to Ripley, and part of their "end zone" is on their track. That part of their end zone is covered by some turf. However, if a player catches a pass and has a hard time stopping through the track, he could potentially end in a ditch that's about 3-5 feet deep. Regardless, what a football game!

  18. should definitely be fun IF Beech can bring their A game. can’t make the mistakes they made tonight and get away with it against Oakland. I fully trust that Crabtree will make the adjustments and have those boys ready to go next weekend! See y’all in Chatt!

  21. Johnson with TD #5 to all but seal it! The resiliency by this team, to keep fighting after Bartlett came out and started throwing haymakers in the second half..proud of these boys! Lets go to Chattanooga!!!

  25. Congrats to McKenzie and to Mase on a great season.Brown is very good and one of the qbs is an 8th grader so they going to get players next year from other schools. But in saying that.I don't understand why Brown and the qb wouldn't want to transfer to a bigger school and play in front of fans.

  34. Good game Hawk and nice to meet you. Y’all shot us out of the gym. We got off to a rocky start and couldn’t recover. I thought considering we had three girls that had never played varsity until the last week we played pretty good at times. South Side is super talented team and will be very hard to beat by anyone. Our girls will learn from it and be better late in the year. Again, enjoyed playing y’all as always.

  35. Clay should win handidly. No matter the outcome of the championship game hats off to clay co on an amazing season. Wasn’t long ago my Indians and Clay Co were bottom feeders and now they’re respectable programs. Hats off to Clay Co!

  36. Well tired of reading about NFHS!! Good luck to both teams tonight. Should be a dandy of a game. River Rats can not let Huntingdon come out and set the tone! If they do it’s going to be a long night for them.

  38. And the band played on ….. I don’t think that the band playing or not playing will affect the outcome of tonight’s game. The team with more points at the end of the game wins. I expect a hard-fought contest and I’m pulling for my Chargers to take the win tonight.

  40. I watched the feed from the Fayetteville end on NFHS and honestly was quite happy with viewing experience. That cat knows the players on both teams and is very accurate giving a description of the action. Plus his camera gave me a pretty good look at the game. I would certainly recommend it over just listening on the radio. Obviously I’d have rather been there. But i got to see the game from a fixed position and enjoyed it. Very few technical issues considering the temps. I plan on watching McKenzie again tonight.

  43. With the $750.00 fee figured in, I highly doubt that the few who decide to watch the stream over attending would offset the gate reduction. Next, you have to take into account the elderly, the out-of-town family and alumni, and occasionally inclement weather games where people won't attend whether they can stream or not. Lastly, schools need community involvement to flourish...any avenue to promote your school to the community will pay dividends down the road in contributions and support for fundraisers in other sports and extracurricular activities. TSSAA and NFHS contribute little to nothing back, while putting out an inferior product.
