Man I remember a day when I played There were 3 classes. And it was always a challenge and a badge of honor to ourselves and to our parents when we would go stick to the pansy private school kids. I guess The parents are just softer now because they never got a trophy so they want little Johnny to get one for them.

Dropped a td pass by on the first series One thing I can’t understand is why we were not wanting our lineman on D to go up field. Zero changes made the entire game on D. LC was the better coached and better prepared team Friday.

At GP you’re not competing with the average schools for talent. Their facilities aren’t comparable to the schools they compete with in D2AA. I guess it depends on what your goal is. Competitive occasionally or a football tradition? For the latter to be true, you have to consistently get the athletes, which is something you don’t do with the current mindset. To compete every year you have to do what the others are doing at minimum. You have to be committed to going after kids, not just coaching who enrolls. I personally believe that too many associated with the program believe the athletes to win are in the building. Without changing that mindset you won’t attract the kind of coach they think they can. Not from another private nor an established public. If they commit, they can succeed. If not, .500 will be a good year because they won’t beat the four teams in Region... who have made the commitment.

And then there's little Rollred ... a Henry Co fan who is eat up with envy and his red is turning green . Little Rollred wishes his team got all the attention but when they get their behind beat 31-24 by a team they beat a few weeks earlier 48-14 .... well little Rollred has to stay at home and watch all the big boys playing for Championships ... this makes Rollred so insanely jealous that he whines and cries on CoachT while the Big boys are winning more Gold Trophies ... Poor little Rollred

That was a fun game to watch, hopefully we can set a preseason scrimmage up.. not during spring so all the baseball players that are on the team can participate

I’d say top 3 defensive teams in Cookeville this weekend were Maryville, Alcoa and Elizabethton, in that order. We took the pass away from Nolensville and made them one dimensional. We were built to stop Greeneville’s run game so a running team just plays into our hands. And once we get a lead you can count on a heavy dose of Maupin and Rollins and our O-Line to burn clock. I loved how coach Wilson got all choked up talking about the 4th and goal play. It shows he really loves his kids and cares about them. Classy program you got there. Good luck next year.

Those girls went to school there since kindergarten. I dont Think we recruit them that early. Sorry but hard to tell at that age if they were going to be stud softball players. Good one though.

Why do so many of you all have a problem with more kids getting to experience a state championship game? It does not hurt anything what so ever. Games were not bad because of too many classifications they were bad because too many teams have unfair advantages such as open zoning, just an elite senior class, or a team didn't play as well. LSU smoked Georgia in the SEC championship so maybe we need to cut down the number of teams in the SEC. Cutting classes further divides the largest team in a class from the smallest which means fewer teams will even have the opportunity to have a run at the state.

Congrats to Maryville on the win. Its getting tougher to find good competition like they bring to the table every year. I think it makes the East bracket work harder and makes everyone better. Go Patriots!

Good luck with that... as a non profit organization, all TSSAA's finances are supposed to be categorized as public knowledge (accessible to the general public). Try and find out the salaries of the administrators if you're feeling adventurous.

*Correction LC was the better team period. They had the best player on the field (Snyder easily), the best line, and ran and passed all over the GB defense without their starting rb (who will likely get the nod at all state) The only reason this game was remotely close is the penalties. If it wasn't for that this game could've easily been like the beatdown Dresden gave yall, probably worse. Only reason I make this comment is because saying LC is the better prepared team hints that you think GB is better just wasn't prepared, which is not at all the truth.

I watched Betsy play twice, and I thought they were a really good team. However, they would be no match in a 4qtr battle with Alcoa up front. Alcoa would win every division except for 6A and maybe big private league.

I have been around football as a player, coach, or fan for 25 years. Having watched the Title Games the last few years, here are some observations, that if we are being honest with ourselves, are absolutely accurate. The games were: anti-climactic not very competitive on the whole you could combine 1A/2A, 3A/4A, 5A/6A and had similar results. This year for example, Lake County likely wins 1A/2A finalists, Alcoa easily wins 3A/4A, and Maryville easily wins 5A/6A.

WV is a very good program. However, their girls program would gain nothing by beating any of the other county schools. It’s a lose/lose situation. If they beat Greenfield, Gleason, or Dresden they will be told they should that they are bigger school. If they lose that really don’t look good either getting beat by a single A school. I honestly don’t know if Westview would get out of Region in Single A around here. Greenfield, Gibson Co., Dresden, and Gleason would give them fits. However I’d pay too see each team play them. The gate would be great for everyone. Now the boys games would be bad for those same schools, probably another reason they don’t play.

So what, let them do it, if that’s what they want to do, but just like with Hamilton Heights(and yes I know a lot about them) let’s not worry about the academic side of things and let’s focus on the sport. I mean it will really work out for the Kids that wrestle just like basketball it has a huge amount of opportunities to make millions going pro, lol. These sports factories are a joke, and it’s a bunch of parents living life through the kids that are going to make their kids pay. Mine would be fine not even playing a sport, I never cared if he got so involved with a sport to make that his life’s work(if he did fine, if not he can make a ton of money as an engineer) This coming from a guy that loves wrestling and spent years not even getting paid helping coach wrestling. Sports taught me a lot about myself, gave me a work ethic I still use today, but my academic focus and life after wrestling has made me who I am today, that I probably still had done without my love for wrestling. If they go to this stuff I wouldn’t care if they cut all sports in college to club level and moved on. It’s going to be about that way anyways when they have to start paying college athletes to play football and basketball, wrestling at the college level doesn’t really make any money so it might start dying a faster death compared to what it has since the days when UT and other SEC schools had real teams. Also AAU basketball is the dirtiest, slimiest POS there is, they could care less about the kids and only care about the money and influence they gain by those kids. I don’t know so much about some of the other sports going to that, but if they use the AAU basketball model it will prob be about the same.

Hey get facts straight bro ... Fulton moved to keep from traveling to Chatt like AC .. think what u want ... and the 2 best of Fultons 6 state champs were 2013 and 2014 .. and that's the 2 years that Rankin decided he didnt want a 2nd loss on his resume and refused to renew contract with Fulton .. after seeing those boys in 2011 as freshman beat down his fresh 30 - 6 .. Alcoa has great teams and handled Fulton all those years but one at Alcoa when Cobb and Rogan played.. but those 2 years in 2013 and 2014 Rankin didnt want any .
