Just going to be honest with the HC posters on here... I was very impressed with the progress your team has made in the last calendar year, and was happy for the Houston County fans to finally have a solid team to root for. I'm sure that the Irish have improved since the Scotts Hill game, but let's keep it real here... the score at halftime was 13-7 after we gave y'all a gift and threw an out route pass to the corner at our twenty five. I knew before the QB released the ball that it was a pick six if he pulled the trigger. The bottom line is, we're just not nearly at the level where a team of the caliber that the Irish posters portray them to be would struggle with us, and you did until our lack of depth showed in the fourth. Be proud of your kids and support them with all your heart, but a little humility would serve you well until you play the elite level of teams in our classification. Houston Co. is coming into their own at a great time... the entire western side of the state is down save Trenton Peabody, and a "decent" team only has to get better at the same rate as everyone else. In the recent past, there was a long list of western division teams that were at Peabody's level, that you had to deal with to even get into the post season. Adamsville, TCA, Union City, McKenzie, Lewis Co., Riverside, Trenton, Waverly, and even my Lions (SH) were formidable opponents, and they're just not there at the same level right now. Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but just give it a break with the championship talk until you know where you stand.

This game would've been a lot of fun the anytime in the last 5 years.Of course the one really down yr in a while it would happen.I hope just half of the normal Oak Ridge crowd shows up but its really hard for the people who don't get off work before 5.Hard to justify missing work for a game that don't mean a lot.It would've been a lot of fun to see some of the past Oak Ridges playmakers go up against a really good D.Oak Ridge just don't have the offense this yr to beat a really good team.Plus our best player on defense has a huge cast on.I just hope Mt.J is more of a running team than a passing team.I love that our young players will get reps vs really good comp and it will only make them better for the future.RWR

That's how Sr. Was and we all hated losing him just as a man let alone he was a heck of a coach! Jr. Is now making his own way and is following in his father's footsteps! In his 4th year ever as a head coach he had us in the state championship game last year! Two great men, two great coaches!!

I've watched them several times over the years this team isnt 2015-2018 offensive line is the most dominant I've seen this year... and I've watched Greeneville, S. South, Powell etc.

Martins Barbecue, off of i40 providence Mount Juliet exit. Great barbecue. The school is fairly new, built in 2008, the facilities are top notch, very good food at the concessions. Overall it’s a Very accommodating environment for opposing fans.

That wasn't the point Pinocchio007. Greeneville has never ran from competition and i would hope a School the size of Oakland (over 2,100 students) and Greeneville (900 Students) would win more times than not. That hasn't kept us from playing Maryville, Alcoa, Fulton (In their championship runs), etc. It's good for the top program in the state to play each other. Last year game would have been a dog fight and that has came from other fans outside of Oakland and Greeneville. Greeneville had quite a bit of D1 Talent last Year (Wake Forest, Army, UVA, ETSU, Marshall, Furman and UT). It's a thing called matchup's and Greeneville was tough to match up last year with how well they ran the O and D. unapproved website has it as a 3 point game if last years teams met. This year Oakland is probably 3 TD's better than Greeneville but that still doesn't mean the teams wouldn't play each other.

That South Wind, South of the Nolichucky river will be heading toward Hampton come Friday. It will arrive Friday evening in Hampton with constant strong pounding winds of the SG OL and then like nova cane kicks in so will that powerful rushing down hill run it down your throats and enough passes to keep you humble attack will produce the lingering effects of TD’s . Then coming in behind that will be huge gusts of that no mercy no let up SG DL getting in the backfield with causes of pressure on the Qb and effects of sacks, rushed passes turning into pick 6’s for the SG DB’s. Playing school ball in Oklahoma. They play on the regulation 100 yard field and they are all turf out there. 'Clone' says his biggest problem is keeping the Grand Childs mind in the game and OFF their Cheer Leaders! LOL

Rodney "Duke" Chatman is named interim coach for 2019-2020 season. This is BIG. I knew Haywood would make this move eventually. I didn't think it would be 3 weeks before the first practice.

Elizabethton doesn't seem to be a push over this season...Our county boys are playing well for them . #1 & #2 in 4A should be a blast to watch; wish I could be there. This one is a toss up for me, I think ER will have a hard time stopping Westy, but Westy will have a tough time with groves, the team with the least amount of mistakes will win, I will pick Westy in a shootout 41-33.

I have said it for years that if The Baylor School & The McCallie School ever decide that they want to dominate in every sport they will have no problem. Take a boarding school with unlimited funds and use those resources correctly you should finish in the Top 25 of the nation in every sport.

We so skeered we play BOTH teams from the championship game last year...AFTER we had a 1-9 season last year. People said we were out of our minds. Give us a bit of credit...the only teams to ever put us out of the playoffs are South Pitt and Huntingdon. I'm not ashamed of that when you consider we started playing varsity football in 2013. I like the way the program is going and expect some great games ahead for our teams. Be patient.

Stop the 30x game end arounds. Stop the run up the middle on 3rd and lomg situations and play prevent on short yardage situations to stop the 50 yard passes. Y'all should be fine then.

Coaches in all sports participate in practice. So is a baseball coach not supposed to hit grounders or throw BP? Are football coaches not supposed to teach technique? Marion got popped a few years back because the kid that was in pads was not a coach. Should a coach have been in pads?? Probably not. But to say coaches can’t participate in practice shows how ignorant of the rules some of you clowns really are.
